Middle River Aircraft Systems sold to Singapore Technologies Engineering

Another great bussines decision by JF. MRAS is the sole supplier of nacelles for the LEAP-1A. Brace yourself guys at MRAS your jobs are going to be sent to Singapore. My bet is that Unison is next in line to be sold.

Maybe GE was selling it to pay for the H-Series issues in Power they knew they would need cash to help pay for once the customers demand compensation for not being able to run their turbines.

Perhaps it is because if we don't study the mistakes of the future, we're bound to repeat them for the first time

Don't forget about our precious physical assets

Sometimes, an asset is on record as having zero value, being FULLY DEPRECIATED, but clearly it's NOT worth nothing.

So book value is often unrealistically low. Goodwill often balances out that inequity, in a sense.

Goodwill at GE is 22% of the assets on the 2017 balance sheet. That represents $84 billions of hot air, money that is nowhere.

Goodwill exceeds Property, Plant & Equipment by 56%. Let that sink for a moment......84 billions of "intangibles" assets. Now draw your own conclusions...

If the company has market data that says that certain businesses are worth less than book value, is that not material information that has to be disclosed? I know they already wrote down some of the goodwill on Power Conversion, are other impairment charges imminent?

Negotiations are ongoing for several biz units. For legacy businesses with profitability challenges, the deal sale price vs. value GE has on the books is key point of discussions as GE has higher value in some cases than offer prices so question is to sell and have a write off or keep biz units and continue operating losses. Determining how to minimize the total negative impact to GE is the key concern for several deals.

Don't you know? GE is one of the ten most admired companies in America, but only by people that never worked for them.

Jerricurl Immelt couldn't run a lemonade stand on his own. He single handedly ran this once great company into the ground. Neutron Jack was bad, but Immelt took the cake, and was only interested in his bonus.
