Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Any rumours on stores closing?

Lately vzw corporate retail stores have not been upgraded or anything... makes me wonder... some stores look abandoned like Sears. I hear reps complaining about their equipment not working or broken... details pls.

I have an inside track on this one. We are definitely opening stores, smaller retail NextGen models. Model seems to indicate the more rural stores will go to indirect (we get the monthly $$$ without spending money on a retail store/staff) and the bigger cities will continue to get slimmed down NextGen stores; slowly phasing out the bigger stores we have there now.

Verizon stores are not closing, there will always be Verizon retail stores.. they are investing money in these stores, it just takes time. Can't remodel 1600 stores in a year, just not feasible.

Where? Chances are any new stores you see going up are not corporate stores. Vz is leaving the retail business.

Then why are they building new stores?

Nothing to wonder about. Vz will continue to exit the retail business one lease at a time.

VZW does not want to be in the retail business. All stores will eventually close.

They have been closing and will continue to do so. One by one as to stay off the radar.
