Yeah, I also got a downgraded title. It seemed completely unnecessary and poorly communicated. I’m still doing the exact same job and I couldn’t get a straight answer about WHY I was downgraded. If it was remotely logical, I would have accepted it. But, other people with almost identical accountabilities ended up a rung higher on the ladder, and nobody was able to explain this. HR wasn’t even able to tell me which job ladder I’m on... probably because the job ladder conflicted with their decision and they didn’t want to provide additional ammo for “questioning”. My boss agreed with me that it made no sense, but was unable to change it.... apparently HR just said they would not be reviewing any title changes for the time being. What kind of message is that? I’ve worked at the company for more than 10 years and received several performance awards, worked a ton of weekends and late nights, and paid out of my own pocket many times to do fun activities and buy treats for coworkers. I have been doing all the things that could turn Enbridge’s c-ap culture around, and then completely pulled the rug out from underneath me with a demotion they couldn’t (or wouldn’t) even explain. People seem to marvel about how bad things are in certain parts of Enbridge and I would assume the source is thousands of micro-grievances like this adding up to one big problem. The expression “death by a thousand little cuts” is really resonating with me these days.
