Job shaming!! Shame on you!!

I find it very sad that anyone would say people who work at walmart are not smart enough to work a real job! I've worked since I was out of high school. Almost 30 yrs for walmart. It was a wonderful company to work for when I started. Only the last 8 to 10 yrs has it become not so pleasant to work for. But I s--- it up and get the job done. I've busted my a**. I've been able to support myself and my family (albeit not lavishly) on a walmart salary. I own my home and drive a newish car as does my husband. I'm not a manager, (won't go there!) I find it very insulting that anyone would shame someone for working! I'm an honest, hard working woman that has earned my $19 hr. I also get almost 7 weeks vacation. Why would I walk away from that. People need to stop shaming others for working here or anywhere for that matter. A job is a job and it pays the bills. Grow up people!! Stop shaming others!!!

I raised two wonderful children on my Walmart salary and I have a nice home and car and I still love my job

Walmart needs Unions!

About a decade ago I would have disagreed.

I'll say one thing and leave it alone. I don't think op was a troll. I worked for walmart for many years too and like she said, it used to be a place you could do that and get by ok. And like she also stated there is NO SHAME in working ANY job. I wasn't proud to be there but I wasn't ashamed, either.

People not agreeing with a certain point of view aren't 'trolls', and the opposing sides of any issue aren't any particular identity either. Used to be folks could agree to disagree, walk away, and that'd be the end of it. Now every thing is all divisive, 'you're with us or against us' mentality.

That's at the heart of the real problems we got here in the USA these days.

To the OP, good for you! Very well put. We live in a time of such utter entitlement and classism. It's the new rich, folks I call the Ten Cent Millionaires, who you'll read and hear doing all this bashing, and they most generally are working only slightly above low middle class jobs themselves. Too much TV and internet has spoilt them into believing they're rock stars and movie queeens they'll never be.

Agreed, I don’t believe anyone should call anyone an id--t.

Stating your opinion is fine. Saying "people who work at walmart are id--ts" is shaming. I see it over and over on this site. I come here looking for answers because usually what I see here comes true at some point. I'm in no way saying walmart is a wonderful job, but it is a job. At least my bills get paid. I wish people would stop acting like we are r----ded for working here. I'm not on the corner with a sign asking for hand outs. I work hard every day and earn the pay I get. It's not the ideal job but its honest. People need to be more respectful. It would make the world a better place. To all associates that work hard every day to support your family.......GOOD JOB!!!!! YOU ARE NOT STUPID FOR PROVIDING FOR YOUR FAMILY!!!

Out of all the years I worked there. I don’t know anybody that has said anything positive recently about that place. Nobody ever smiles and they keep taking perks and benefits away from the actual workers.

....Sadly Walmart was once a great place to work with tremendous career possibilities. However, once LS took the helm as the leader, it has gone down hill ever since. It used to be a great TEAM environment where if you worked hard, there were opportunities to grow yourself and support your family....but now not so much.....it is everyone for themselves with no concern for what keeps them in business - the Associates in the stores and warehouses - They are the ones that kept this company afloat. I would like to see a robot care for and show empathy to a customer, see a self checkout make a kid or elderly person smile, with all the technology being put into place I wonder who is going to be there to show a positive outlook to someone (customer or associate) that is having a rough day.

Yes the Old days when you could have a career at Walmart are over......but they don't have to be if the right people were in charge.
