Thursday is the favorite day for layoffs next to Tuesday, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is more of the same today.
Have there been any indications or announcements about today?

Not today, but maybe tomorrow
Heard that a team was told they were safe, then one of them was surplussed a few days later. Oops. Apparently safe really isn't "safe".
Yep!...Next question
I have little faith in my Director caring if there is hassle or not. If you look him up in Tspace, his work profile shows that one of his projects is headcount reduction. He's been my director for a bit over a month. It does not bode well for us.
Today is Wednesday
I doubt it.
The bosses may not care about our pain, but they do care about their own.
Having to fire a bunch of people is enough of a hassle to deal with that they likely scheduled just doing it once for the next few months at least.
That, and a lot of groups had two meetings, the first for people getting the ax, and the 2nd for people to learn that they almost got the ax.
HUGE blowback to be expected if the bosses immediately renege on that assurance. Bosses do not like to have to talk to people about the whole thing, which such a move would guarantee in spades.
Caveat: The above assumes rational behavior. Our star-struck, wannabe media moguls may or may not be capable of such.
