Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

273 vote no to the new job classifications

We are basically going to be a non union shop worse than it is now. Then next contract they will dove it deep and take the 150 pennies back and some. That want to open the local supplement for this? But not for the memberships lower pay scale! This will not save jobs, this will not give the membership any leverage at all it will tie the memberships hands. You will be bounced all over to jobs you never done. This is setting it up to fail big time so the company can say the union did it. I am a t rate and I would rather hit the streets with the 300+ Union brothers and sisters who got laid off than agree to this.

I'm not union (Greenville), but if I was in your shoes I would vote no on this. At least you got a vote. GE just walks all over us here. When times were good, it wasn't so bad, but now that times are bad it's awful.

There may not be any leverage but at least for me there is on principal alone. People went into the career paths they did for a reason. Now those will go away. Some people bid into less physically challenging jobs for a reason. Some people were put in those jobs because they couldn’t do anything else. There’s people on the street who wont be able to come back because by combining the jobs they have incorporated things that will make it impossible for those people to be able to do the job. Its bigger than just saying no and its bigger than not wanting to change with the world around us.. a yes vote just tells the company that they can still cut more and cut deeper and use less and less people with combining even more jobs. Don’t forget contract is coming up. Don’t forget our healthcare could and likely will go up. The monies you receive now will be taken away though other measures. You’ll receive nothing for it in the end and be left scratching your head wondering where it went.

Yes vote it’s not even close. Do you think 8 people posting while your trolling a layoff site makes sense. Wake Up there is no leverage in saying no other than showing GE you don’t want to change with the world around you.

I am a Big NO NO NO NO NO. The company couldn’t open the local supplement at 2015 contract time to bump up the t rates. What did the union give up to open it? They have to give something up? What did the union gain to open this and agree to bring to the floor for us to vote on? The legacy is over the Union is washed up! 2019 is the next contract that’s when this should be addressed!

Anyways if this gets voted in and the company and union refused to open the loacal at contract time to bump up the T Rates pay to off set the ridiculous Cadillac of health insurance so the hall said.

I’m voting NO
