Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

What will L48 look like?

DM said that he is "reducing the number of groups and entities." What will this actually look like? How many supervisors will be under each manager? How many individual contributors will be under each supervisor? Post the rumors you've heard about how L48 will look on the other side of the reorg.

The company wants continuity and do not want to needlessly get people up to speed. So if your position still exists, you are probably safe. If it doesn't, you better hope someone who EOIed left you a position that you are perfectly qualified for.

Word on the street is that very few people checked the EOI box in L48.

18% cuts to GCBU, 20% cuts to what was RBU, and 24% cuts to what was MCBU.

5sur: truth. There are many other adjectives that apply as well, but that’s a very appropriate descriptor.

Get that EOI on the way out. It makes it feel a little better when you can go sit on a beach and sip umbrella drinks on them and think of all those azz-Sl4rp3rs who you don't have to be around anymore.

You guys are hosed. COP just plays it’s empl like cards. Pull your head out of your VCIP and RSU’s and you’ll see that there aren’t that many meaningful jobs left. Sure you make some bank, but you’ll just be a puppet on string waiting for the next re-org or layoff.

Look at KT’s Subsurface org chart and tell me if it is recognizable...

"Not many losers left" KT says that L48 will not be recognizable once this is over.

Shutting down Bartlesville and moving those tasks to Houston will help many of us both there and here. There will many objections that it will take a couple years for us to extricate ourselves from there!

The WARN Act notice is issued based on the number of job losses. EOIs are an internal practice and have nothing to do with it. They simply try to fit those willing to leave into their downsizing plan. Those granted their EOI are “laid off” just like everyone else who didn’t express interest.

You just said employment loss is defined as voluntary departure - it does count towards warn, check the definition you just quoted us.

People who EOI do NOT count towards the number used to determine if a WARN notice is required. A warn notice is required if 500 or more people experience an employment loss at the same employment site (in this case, Houston). An employment loss is, in part, defined as "an employment termination, other than a discharge for cause, voluntary departure, or retirement." The only reason the company offers EOI is so they are counted as a voluntary departure. This means that the total headcount reduction can, and likely will, be more than 500 even without a WARN notice.

It is expected to be cuts of 20-25%.

Permian Development will go down to three teams, each with a maximum of 12 people. RC and Planning will merge for the first team. Unconventional (Delaware) development will be the second. The last will be a band of misfits running Conventional Development until it gets sold.

So just under the size requiring bad press via a WARN.

A scout just said this morning there will be a reorg with 100-400 laid off. 20 managers down to 14(?) No mention of groups affected.

It seems like Eaglefart will be reduced from 7 to 3 supervisors. The Planning, RP, and RC teams will merge into one. There will be two implementation teams that the ops geo and base teams will be integrated into. Headcount will be reduced some across the board.
