How likely is this? Any time soon?

Six sigma works in a production environment where you are producing identical items at a rapid pace day afrer day. It reduces the errors in the production cycles that humans or machines make. We do not produce widgets and do not have production lines.

Someone who has gone through the vlss program at the very early stages I can say that it is a huge waste of time. It takes years for people to EARN blackbelts but Verizon gave them away to people to say that they had “experts” running these ridiculous projects

Go figure.

I think this happened already. Their dept was "transformed". About 50% gone, some by choice, some not.

Where I work VLSS is evil.

Let's take a process we know nothing about and chop it to pieces and the mess? My office gets to clean it up. I've spent hundreds of hours undoing and fixing huge gaps in the VLSS process because it's all about cutting corners.

Plus, GE recently lost it's place and got bounced from the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Replaced by Walgreen's.

GE wrote the book on six sigma, they actually said it was a huge mistake that ruined their company. notice a trend?

Interesting factoid: the only reason VZ even went through Six Sigma is the old boys’ network. The id--t we hired to lead the mess was finishing up destroying GE. Lowell is on the BOD there. The Six Sigma consultant asked Immelt to refer him to Lowell. The rest is history.

As I recall, the guy bragged that he was going to turn us into the next Google. I’d like to knows when I’m going to get those lucrative stock options.

Want to cut the truly unneeded fat out of the company? CAN every Verizon Lean Six Sigma "blackbelt". Thankfully the corporate page has been sparing us these VLSS stories lately. I used to gag reading about people who don't even really know the job trying to improve processes of that job and just making things 10x worse.

Lean Six Sigma got rid of the employee styrofoam coffee cups in our office. If a visitor wants coffee they need to go track down one of the admins. Way to stay classy big red!

Six Sigma in any incarnation is SUPPOSED to be about improving efficiency, reducing mistakes, reducing wasted time, etc. in the name of saving money, increasing profit while reducing expenses and a bunch of other 'value added' claptrap. What it always turns into is "How can I make the least amount of people do the most amount of work?" If an organization goes Six Sigma, you can expect things to get ugly, maybe not in a hurry, but it will.

You tell us.

You’re the ones in charge of cost-cutting and curbing unnecessary expenditure.
