Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Pulling all Corporate and L48 Elements together.

What's coming down the pike? For a pure Independent E&P our size to be more efficient we have decided to centralize to improve our speed we can react to business environment changes and persue new reserves. With that said we know that not all will be invited to the dance. It will be interesting to watch how our consultants have advised to proceed. It appears they may eliminate duplicate managers and pick a new one that then builds down his team in each and every one of our areas. If this is the approach used few of us will have protection or a champion. Hopefully when it's over we will once again become focused and one big happy family!

Would love to know what is true and what is not... What is speculation ? I miss the good ole days when leaks came from people in the know.

But we like to do this every year! It keeps people on their toes. It also keeps morale and loyalty high. smh

A well managed organization that knew its strengths would have implemented these changes 2 -3 years ago during the downturn. All our peers are in growth mode whilst COP's still working out how to be lean and efficient.

BC were used in the UK several years back. They started by building a new org chart. Every staff member had to pick three jobs on the new org chart. The upper layers were filled proceeding down to the lowest levels, with those not having a position being let go. It looks like they may be cleaning out upper levels now, not sure if we would all have to reapply for several jobs.
