Yep, no doubt that’s the only criteria for layoffs
It's very tough for many (like me) but I do like "ciscoseverancerocks" as it does allow for new opportunities, and there are many opportunities out there. IMHO the blame for all these personal challenges are with the Board and not management - they should've appointed the new boss (or someone) 10 years earlier to catch the Cloud. The new boss seems authentic and has brought in new leadership (yes, over 50!). I hope the new leadership gels so that the company can delight its customers once more, and bring back employment growth. It was a tough hand to be dealt.
People, Cisco is NOT a great place to work. I worked there almost 20 years and my LR came in 2016 - when I was at 150% of plan. And I was considered a high-performer and was in the "diversity area" in my field. This is all a numbers game - Cisco DOES NOT CARE about you and your career. You are a number... and unfortunately no one can save you. Middle management, overlays and BUs will continue to be targeted. IC's stay where you are - don't aspire for more, you'll get screwed. Go to a company that appreciates you and you'll get the opportunity to work on really cool stuff. :) That's what I'm doing now and LOVING it. I am not bitter - actually, grateful now ... but it did take me 2 years later to realize that the company that I joined in the late 90's is not the same company anymore. There are certainly better career building companies out there. So why am I posting? cause I saw some LinkedIn position changes... and just wanted to check what was going on. Decided to finally chime in on a post - 1st time eve... hate on me if you want but I lived your Cisco layoff yearly threat reality since..hmmm 2002?? Before some of you had even graduated high school. Enjoy a cold one whilst CX goes thru TS and AS like crap thru a goose. Meanwhile Cisco is set to announce year end results, and as a twist, doling out layoffs ahead of the earnings call. Tidier that way, no need to distract investors with boring details like firings to prop up the stock price. As a bonus another acquisition today...making space for more headcount by way of 're-investing in other areas'

yep, it has begun ! 1 on 1's got sent out for today . I'm in Ops, our dept got hit hard. Directors , mgrs; about 40%
