Conspiracy Theory about Merger?

Recently heard a conspiracy theory that makes a lot of sense:

The Spectra merger wasn't about assets, or dollars, or synergies. It was about bringing in a ****ton of Spectra employees to push out the people in Houston.

Legacy Enbridge Houston employees did tend to whine a lot. I think it was pretty justified, that place is an awful place to work, but Legacy Spectra seem to be more willing to put up with crappy jobs and crappy bosses in a crappy building in a crappy location for slightly better money - maybe a ploy to get the same work done with fewer people, because everyone spends less time whining? Cheaper than actually fixing the company?

Discuss.

Employees were the very last thing our leaders had in mind when the decided to buy Spectra. This conspiracy theory is definitely false.

Anyone who held shares prior to the merger got screwed. Add to the fact that Enb has issued out more than a billion shares which diluted the company like few companies have ever done. Some rich people got richer, but it sure wasn't the average long term shareholders. There should be an investigation.

The only conspiracy was to enrich a select few with major bonuses, get rid of aging employees ( the whiner who were feed up with seeing the same mistakes made over and over again). Legally cut staff to the spineless few and work until they drop dead. Thus bringing in younger workers from small towns who will do anything not to go back home.

Spectra shareholders sold off when stock was at its high, bought Embridge at low point, collected the dividends, will wait a few years for what is left of OLD SPECTRA to be spun off and repeat the process.
