Look on AT&T’s career site, there are no SSR positions anywhere in the US. I looked at 55 pages of jobs and not one single SSR position at all. I have never gone to the official AT&T career site and not seen at least 2-5 SSR positions posted, usually more, not this time!

Im in the same boat. I’ve been with AT&T since 06. Rsc > fin rep > layed off > went to ssr and now back to Rsc.

This blows, I’ve been trying to get into IT but it seems impossible. I even tried prem tech and the HR lady was like, take this as some personal advise, you don’t want it. Whatever that meant.

It’s not bs it’s real! Where’s the UNION?? Why haven’t they reached out to SSR’s to let them know???

Thanks to everyone for posting. I checked several sources and it was confirmed for sure. My manager pretended he did not know about it though he was off from work, I still didn’t believe him. Maybe it’s time for me to move on after 10+ years as a SSR. They have been saying this for a bit now, I guess they are doing some late summer cleaning. Thanks CWA, you guys truly helped protect our jobs...NOT!!!

I am a SSR in the northeast. It's going down. We will be informed officially on Wednesday

Correction

In my original post I said "managers will meet with their respective SSRs Monday morning" I meant Wednesday (August 1st)

Normally I'd be right there with you all calling "foul" and "fake news" but everything I stated in my original post is 100% factual information directly from the call we had this afternoon.

With all the bs this forum spews out regarding SSRs, I figured I be as thorough as possible with the information I was provided on the call first hand.

This is such an important and necessary role the company! I hope they reconsider!

@Uo6xdjX-2okz good luck getting cable splicer position. they aren't even hiring prem techs. if you have been with the company since 18, hopefully you were smart enough to have used your tuition reimbursement to get a degree.

more fake news. this site is worthless now

So then what is the better option...take the lump sum severance, take an RSC position that you aren't really wanting(why you stepped away from sales in the first place), wait till October and hope another opening in a position you want comes available?

Any fair paying jobs $15 an hour with good medical? Only job I've had since I was 18 now 29. Anyone know how to get in the wired side....wanting to splice cable and climb polls...have tried for 3 years to get a job and nothing ever comes up.

OK so we have a day & a half to get the “official” word from AT&T- not this Website and all our Local store managers are still calling BS & are acting like they don’t know/ haven’t heard a thing.

And I don’t think this many managers are that good at acting. If they are then they need to move over to Time Warner and star in some of their shows.

Am I going to get a “official” email with no heads up from my manager? And what if I didn’t check this site- wouldn’t I be completely blown away?

Everything you wrote appears to be too concise to be fake. Are our local managers that clueless?

It’s a big country- did something fall through the cracks? Probably....

Its unfortunately not a rumor.

An explanation of the two dates are as follows:

SSRs who choose severance will have the option for early exit (September 30th) or elect to remain until the final date of October 30th which is the last day of employment before being laid off

Should an SSR choose to go to an RSC, they will remain a rep in the store theyre currently in, and they will remain whatever they were as an SSR either part time or full.

Tenure will also remain. So if you have 10 years as an SSR, you retain that 10 years. So if your store's highest seniority rep has been there for 9 years for example, and if the SSR opts to be an RSC, the SSR will now become the RSC with the highest seniority

Official announcement will be August 1st. Managers will meet with their respective SSRs Monday morning so that they're informed officially first, and an email will be sent out company wide later that day explaining to everyone what's going on.

No explanation on pay differences yet.

From past experience, for example, your hourly will fall under whatever is the closest possible step as the other position. So if you're on step 13 on the pay scale, it'll be a lateral move. I highly doubt whatever SSRs are making hourly now will continue to be what they'll be making hourly going forward on top of commission. This is a pretty big difference hourly for SSRs in the Orange contract for example.

SSR (sales support representative)are basically inventory, and merchandisers. RSC (retail salea consultant) are who sell. But I talked to a manager and they said that was not on the call at all. Sounds like a rumor

So help us non-retail people understand what's going on. Everyone nationwide with the title "SSR" has to have their title changed to "RSC" (what is that) or be surplused? What are the differences in the jobs - and are other being involuntarily surplused as well?

Is there anymore info about this? Did the person in the Northeast have their call today?

If we are having a meeting/call on Wednesday there is no news here & I thought they had to give you advance notice of either so that anyone involved is not left out.

MICA- MERCHANDISING, INVENTORY, CASH, AUDIT.

MERCHANDISING: Following ever changing company Store Layout, from new devices, pricing, banners, Direct Tv demo units, device alarms- Everything you see in a Company Owned Retail store a SSR has put up. (Except giant TVs)

INVENTORY: Receving new inventory, shipping out returned, traded or buyback inventory in a timely manner. Marking down discontinued accessories, returning obsolete accessories and End of Life Devices. Count all Inventory on a monthly basis & research missing items. EVERYTHING HAS TO BE ACCOUNTED FOR. Also try to figure out why Joe Bob sold a customer a phone but it still in our possession. Or why Joe Bob let a customer take home a phone we have gave them money for.....

Are you having FUN yet?

CASH: Count all funds, prepare deposits & report to the CASH DEPOSIT GROUP why you are missing $80, or are over $165. Do not mess with AT&T’s money. It is not fun to admit to the CASH DEPOSIT GROUP that Joe Bob and friends are total id--ts and cannot handle money.

AUDIT: The Super fun time when a auditor comes in (with only 14 hrs notice & you cannot alter anything- they run video to make sure) and goes back over everything to assure the company that you are not lying on your monthly counts, all your cash is accounted for and ALL PHONES are accounted for. Not to mention the reps phones, the display phones with their phone numbers assigned correctly, and anything else related to PHONES (and SIM CARDS)

Are you having a lot of fun now?

And Joe Bob is the bane of your existence but he can sell, so you live with Joe Bob, but you and only you realize how much money he bleeds the company.

AT&T and Joe Bob- you WILL have fun with this!!! Have mercy on your soul.

SSR = Sales Support Representative

COR = Corporate Store

MICA = i don't know what the letters stand for, but it's the trainings managers and ssr's go through.

SSR's main responsibility is to stand at the door and triage, sign customers in, bill pays, sell accessories, trouble shoot. As well as perform the floor resets, as well as back office duties and a whole lot more.

Can anyone help me out with these acronyms? What is SSR, COR, MICA? I know this seems to have to do with the retail part of the business but would like to know.

No replies? Really? Are there nonbelievers out there? Is this just another bs post? Or are you shocked?

The timing is perfect- 60 days notice & everything is tied up nice and neat for the end of the 3rd quarter.

Falls at the end of the month- no more insurance for AT&T to pay.

No replies? Really?

I for once believe this one. Short, to the point and makes perfect sense.
