Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

DH does not have a clue about innovation

Having watched DH over the last few days it’s obvious DH has no clue what innovation, engineering , software development or any real understanding of the technology the company build and sells. He truly is a disposable figurehead installed by EM to do their bidding.

No backbone, innocent like a babe and no rational thought process for decision making.

One bad quarter and the company is doomed

Citrix: c-ap hypervisor, no-iaas-cloud, complicated vdi (core business)

Vmware: good hypervisor, aws-cloud-partnership, ok VDI (not core)

Nutanix: good hypervisor, building cloud, simple VDI (promised-land)

DH: knows financial engineering so he is focusing on that.

I will not be surprised if we see exec departures in the next 12 months.

The product and engineering leaders have a lot to fix and deliver. Citrix analytics videos are so funny! The whole security industry has failed to deliver anything good using ML and Citrix in Florida solved all the malware problems!!! DH spending a ton of time with marketing!

No idea why time and money is spent keeping a loser like XenServer around, staff can be better spent on fixing transition to Cloud. Don’t think any real customers use or pay for XenServer...not good for much other than quick POCs.

DH congratulating nutanix shows the little leverage left with Citrix. It was the undisputed leader in the market 10 years ago!

Citrix marketing has been singing FUD for years now. The party is over. Everyone has picked their partner and gone home.

Don't underestimate the power of Citrix marketing. They can do anything - it doesn't have to ship for 12 months or work for 24 months. They can play with FUD.

Citrix is not capable of copying Frame or Nutanix. They are struggling to put their control plane in the cloud. The best that they can do is pimp their fake cloud and partner with Nutanix. Even if Citrix could copy these other vendors they would be so far behind that customers would have already bought the competition.

Nutanix will own the market! DH will ask his team to copy/paste and the team will say they can do anything. JR can do anything - he is a genius.

Citrix will copy everything. Expect Citrix to do whatever you get from frame and Workspot.

Citrix customers can get a full in the cloud service from Workspot or Frame already. They can get a similar service native from AWS or Azure. They can get the full Citrix on-prem solution hosted in Azure from a Citrix Service Provider which they have been doing for years. If they use Citrix "Cloud" they just get the hosted management system and they still have to run the backend on-prem. It won't be long before AWS and Azure steal way the Citrix customers.

Bingo finally someone said it. Companies like O4IT have been doing it for years. Citrix is basically copying what MSP's have been doing now for awhile while they redevelop the code to become a true cloud solution. The question is can we deliver a true cloud solution before someone introduces something better at which point if we haven't been sold yet we will be playing catch up once again.

Citrix Cloud will never pencil out. There is too much overhead. On-prem will always be cheaper for customers. Citrix always has to pay Azure current rent rates. Since they don’t own the infrastructure they can’t pay it down. They have to build the platform and run it. So they have to charge too much. Customers have paid for infrastructure and existing staff. They pay once for the on-prem software plus maintenance. It’s much cheaper. Only a few customers that don’t want to own the Citrix setup will rent hosted. They have lots of choices for a full Citrix setup in the cloud from a CSP not just the hosted control plane that Citrix offers. Citrix Cloud is not a real cloud. It's just a Citrix service that other's have offered for years.

He is keeping Wall Street happy and buying time for the engineering team to fix the mess. What do you want him to do?

Everything new is sold under the cloud umbrella so it looks like the new cloud stuff is growing. It’s just old customers renewing with subscriptions.

“And so, when we deliver cloud, like I said, it's not just about our infrastructure, but all of the new innovations that are only available as a cloud service. Like, for example, unified experience, the analytics platform, the cloud app control service I mentioned before, federated identity, integrated content”
