1lut. Im down in southern nj. There is no 5g build. there is barely anyfios. And we have hardly anyone capable of getting dsl. i hope your right about work. Cuz we need it bad down here
@ixid someone is blowing smoke up your a-- unless you are in an unrepresented area. The true represented franchise areas will be building like mad for years, probably not unlike the early Fios build days. We have already been doing preliminary 5G work. Early upgrades to towers and inter CO runs and various sites etc. The equipment standards are not fully settled yet to my understanding so not much there as of yet. They are preparing the routes for the eventual. Much of our runs are near capacity. The amount of fiber, equipment and labor necessary to build, maintain and operate this project is enormous. They have even brought on 2 new engineers in our district, probably the first time in 20 years. I guess that contract engineering thing hasn't worked out to well for them. Good Luck there will be much to be made.
1lui. How is the 5g gonna make us a killing. Ive been told ( not sure if true) that there is no work in 5g for us the union workers. (Facilities tech)
Rumor has it, that 60% of IT, is heading to IBM or someone like that.
No one left to do EWA, and that is why the company settled so fast.
Congrads to the Union, you did good.
(note, I am part of IT, had OWN JOB last job action)
PS, 90% of rumors I hear, do not happen but some do
Great money to be made for all. This 5G build is going to make us all a killing.
I wonder what company wireline will be sold off to? Guess we'll find out.
@wuv Frozen means pension shut down with no future contributions to ever be made henceforth from the date of the freeze. The language of the new agreement equates to 3% greater multiplier at the end of the contract or to be more specific you could say a 3% increase from 9/15/2021. You are fixating on the band value and it would be obviously better to have continuous band increases but remember the value still continues to go up because of the other increasing multiplier in the formula (months of service). This is anything but a freeze. The more months you work the more they owe you. Overall not much to complain about, besides we all know the real money is in the K-plan. Mine is more than double my pension value as I am sure is the case for most of us.
If you are displeased you can always vote it down but I doubt many will. The likelihood of this failing a vote is slim. There might be a few pockets of dissent some with some legitimate beefs. The most credible being this required little effort to achieve, so who knows what could be gained with a fight? I guess if the majority want a fight we will have one. I am on board if that is the consensus. It would be interesting to see an area or two say no to this. We shall see soon enough.
So there is no pension band incr. In year2022 and 2023 so it will be kind of frozon from 2021 ,kind of like what happened in 2010 to 2016 no incr.
Management here. Have many friends in the union. Glad to here , congrats.
Non Union but glad we won't have to go through the same mess we did in '16....Congrats
Vote no want 6% raise every year
@ucg,
How's your job security guarantees? I can't be moved or laid off, and now I know that all my benefits will be in place for my retirement.
@UeXupUJ-ssq , who cares what you get.
@ucg: I’m the one that’s always late and s—-s at my job, so it’s all good. How’s your pension been growing? Lol.
Hahaha... 2.5% per year. As management we get at a minimum 3% . This year I got a 7% a great bonus, good 401k match and things are looking even better for this next year.
No matter how hard you work, the sh--bag that is always late and s---s at his job gets the exact same thing as you. That has to s---.. lololol
In 2020 & 2021 raise will be 2.5%, in 2022 2.75%, 2023 3%,. Pension band increase 1% each year in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Increases in healthcare contributions but I don’t know how much yet.
Corporate Profit Share in place.
