Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

What in the tarnation is happening in Houston?

Controller from the mothership in the great white north here. Can someone tell me what is going on in Houston?? I'm hearing that our cap services group down there is in tatters. All but one manager has quit, losing 2-3 controllers a month, reps jumping ship left and right. Do they have enough people to continue safely operating our pipelines? Who's in charge down there, and is he or she doing anything about it?

Thanks in advance - don't let curiosity kill my cat.

GC Controllers in the regulated side are leaving all the time, from my understanding its pretty tense in their Control Centre and as far as the Midstream stuff that's all been sold and they are still in the building but will be leaving as soon as they have space elsewhere.

Not sure on other groups but lots of ppl not happy and are looking for other opportunities so there is lots and lots of empty space and more empty space every day and I don't know how this equates to growing bigger and better but I'm sure AM has great plans.... yeah right

Someone in these reaponses has a misguided hatred for accountants LOL. The post refers to operations control. Get over yourself.

Cap Services = capacity services. The group that controls the flow of oil and gas through the pipelines (paper + operational side).

I don’t think it does matter these days which specific area you are working, I can see people leaving from all departments. And yes, no one controls anything unless you are the upper management. We work for money so no need to be concerned where the company is heading. Finance doesn’t control the numbers, they are the working ants like everyone else.

NO WORRIES We're on autopilot just like crash of flight 401. The entire flight got focused on burnt out indicator light that they failed to notice the autopilot had disengaged. FYi some did survive the crash.......

You're in finance... Relax... You don't control anything... Just keep punching your numbers in the spreadsheet, the pipeline is just fine. The people in finance need to get over themselves.

Not unless you are an employee who just want to hang around but doesn’t do much OR contractor who charges 10-12 hrs a day and weekends then you will not look for work somewhere else. All those cost savings talk are just BS, there are still increases and promotions but those are just for those who are pretty close to their boss and can make them believe they are the most important workers. For the meantime, people are leaving on their own even if they have 10yrs of service already. I heard one manager saying he left because he doesn’t like the work atmosphere anymore. I have seen the quality of work also deteriorated, not sure if it is because of people doesn’t have motivation anymore or the people left working just have less skills. You don’t have to be brilliant, you just have to know the right people within the company, get close to them and make them believe you are worthy of the job even if sometimes you’re not.

Crappy leaders. Better opportunities elsewhere.
