Verizon Bargaining Announcement

Union Strong!!!!

"CWA, IBEW and Verizon have reached an agreement in principle to extend the collective bargaining agreements for a four-year period.

The current agreements are set to expire on August 3, 2019. If finalized, the agreements will extend through August 5, 2023. The company and the unions are documenting the understanding in signed contracts and expect to have that completed this week, at which time we will communicate further details.

The contracts will be subject to ratification by union members. We will keep you posted."

Nice try troll. Nothing was given away. They were only discussing pay raises and bumps in medical insurance payments, and length of contract. Raises are 2.5% 2.5% 2.5% and 3% in the last year. Small increase in medical.

Not a fan of one off bonuses.

Would prefer the longer-term benefit of a better raise than the instant gratification of a one-time bonus.

My guess about why the contract was negotiated a year early is the old management is out new improved management in. Clean slate, bad news out . Years of lack luster business decisions. In the past when contracts were negotiated early business improved.

For Sale LMFAO. Who has that much capital. Likely no one other than some character in some troll's fantasy world. This is all about a timely uninterrupted 5G build. It seems very much like the 2003 contract for the Fios jumpstart. There is a lot of money to be made over the coming years. Let the build begin.

No, @2ywj, you silly anti-Union troll.

Businesses hate uncertainty, especially when there’s a large project ahead.

This is choreographed in nearly the same manner, early extension and all, as happened before our last major project loomed.

Just history repeating itself.

After reading so much on this site about the worry and stress of being laid off, I realize how fortunate I have been to have a union job at VZ. I have my 30 years, and will work for a few more, without any thought whatsoever about being laid off, and now there is at least 5 more years added onto it.

VZ Wireless workers really blew it in the beginning, now it’s too late to join us.

You might have had a chance to be included way back when, but that ship has sailed.

I'm glad not to have to do EWA again. I'm Band 5 so it was really just a gigantic pain in the @ss for me. Got a little bit of compensation after the fact but not nearly enough to make the whole exercise personally worth it for me.

I'm glad the union has got a contract they are happy with (after two EWA tours, I have mad respect for the work you guys do).

Glad the customers and employees will not get dragged through another strike.

This is a win-win-win.

I, like many others, had planned on retiring in a year, just before the contract expired. Now the possibility exists that I may put it off until a later date. In any case, my retirement is at least guaranteed to be as good as I planned, now maybe even better.

This also guarantees several of my co-workers that they will be guaranteed to get their magic 30 year service date, and I’m very happy for them.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah everyone who is not union is a loser and deserves to be unemployed.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah every union member will retire a multi millionaire with millions in pensions payments forever. Plus we get paid millions to pull wires.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah even though I am a super happy union employee who makes millions I keep asking for an EISP until I am blue in the face because I lie.

No being away from family.

No losing pay.

Find out the details later, but this is nice.

@1bia and, you too, @1wzp, try to follow, as what I’m about to ask gets real confusing, like one of those, “There's two trains traveling at...” such and such a speed problems that used to confound you so badly in grammar school (and high school, and coll..., oh forget it, that’s enough benefit of the doubt).

Here’s the question.

I will sell you a dime for 6 cents, and as many times as you like. Do you want the deal?

C’mon dude? Why the puzzled, head-tilted-to-one-side confused dog expression? PLEASE! This is easy stuff. Of forget it. Turn Rush back on.

There is zero doubt in my mind that @1wzp and @1bia is the same intellectually-challenged individual in terms of economics.

Each of his propositions more ignorant than the previous.

It is better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.

Your propositions are asinine, though worthy of am political radio, of which I have no doubt you are a fan.

Enjoy your pillow, your gold retirement investments, and your no salt water softener you dupe.

@1bia you seem simple minded. I am not a previous poster yet I do celebrate obviously possibly prematurely since all facts are not yet certain the next 5 years of secure well compensated employment with a nice level of continued K plan and pension accrual. This will superfund my retirement to greater levels than I had planned(I was considering retirement this year but feel I am little to young as I started at a young age). I see no problem paying the pittance I have throughout my career for quality representation. I would not ever want to work in an open shop. It leads to a lot of leeches who want the benefits of representation yet do not wish to tow the line. There is no place for the open shop other than the third world or the south of this country. That is why they live a substandard existence and fight amongst themselves for the crumbs. I am sure some "better men" than I may have earned and accrued more career wise but as a percent of the population I doubt more than 5 or 10 % have. So I figure better than 9 out of 10 isn't to bad (I am fairly certain of the statistic based on IRS income data). I doubt seriously that you have earned more or accrued nearly what I have in my represented position, particularly if the small amount paid to be represented seems like such a burden on your tiny budget.

I and many of my colleagues have absolutely zero concern about money or the ability to retire. The feeling is hard to explain it just opens so many doors being free from such things. It enables you to explore hobbies, to travel and enjoy life at a level many cannot due to there life circumstances such as insecure employment or low pay, poor or expensive healthcare, etc. things my representation combated against. So yes even the status quo I as well as many will celebrate. The right to work is just a grifters pitch to work for less.

Hahaha, @1bia, you’re such a tool.

1st off, Right to Work equals Right to Slave.

2nd off, if the “status quo” you’re referring to is a superior level of job security, an additional advocate in my corner if I feel I’m being targeted or treated unfairly, and a better salary than those doing somewhat identical work for other outfits unrepeesented then, yes, I willingly embrace the “status quo”.

@1bia, let me ask you a question?

If you invested 2% of your base salary knowing the immediate payoff would be 3% of your original base salary, would you not? It’s a no-brainer. @1bia, the payoffs even better, but I wanted to state it simply enough so that you might grasp it, and that’s in addition to the benefits I mentioned previously

Post ID: @1xqv+UbBi3AU

Let me get this straight, you are all excited about paying a decent amount of money per year to a Union, and the result of that investment is status quo? Not saying that a contract extension isn’t a good thing for the workers, but it seems as though you’re now just paying the Union for the right to work.

“2% pay raise and 3% increase in health premium. S---ers” - @1wzp

A 2% pay raise is in the $30 to $ $40 dollar a week range for many. No great, but something.

A 3% increase in health care premiums, $1.50/wk.

What is your point?

Post ID: @1yng+UbBi3AU

Interesting that we now have an almost assured extension just prior to the new CEO ( Hans ) taking the reins. Lot of ways to read this but one is that the company is not concerned about the contract or Union as many of them may be spun off into a separate company that is entirely away from Verizon. This all within the next two years.

The good news is you all have a really good job until 2023. The bad news is for those continually wishing for an EISP. It’s quite clear by this extension that the company needs its union labor force so good luck with that EISP

I do expect drastic changes after the five years to hit with Hans going hell bent for 5G. Good luck to all, regardless, the world could use a little more civility especially amongst co-workers

@iyqr Yeah like when they thought they could lay members off and they where forced to make all the members whole with back, pay pension, seniority and work location etc. Yeah those lawyers really advised them well. Sometimes contractual language is pretty damn well ironclad you jealous chump.

by

Post ID: @1rtm+UbBi3AU

There is no such thing as a iron clad contract. VZW has floors of lawyers who will find and exploit the loop holes they find in the contract to the Companies benefit.
