This wasn’t a layoff, this was a purge. The GF Malta facility will be closed or sold. There is no future for GF under its current ownership. You’ve been warned.

Sadly I remember RS and VP's statements on June 20 that FAB8 action is complete NOW. Result is that employees impacted are 4 to 6 times more on Aug 28.
To everyone talking about the financials and the economics yes you are correct but the problem is that you take into account the financials and economics before you take on the project not decide midway. Couldn’t the management see it when they decided to take it on, isn’t there something called risk management. It does not add up at all and now RS is going around saying that there aren’t going to be any more layoffs
I still don't get how no one on here has made any effort to look at the financials surrounding 7nm development. It makes no sense when GF was literally the last people to 14nm, and had to license Samsung's process. Billions would have been lost if 7nm wasnt cut. For any company trying to make money, they have to make hard decisions. To me, for the past two years or so I knew this was coming. I'm just sorry it took them so long and so many people were hurt as a result of a necessary finacial decision.
Totally agree. If you know the semi-conductor biz there are clear signs here for a sale... Doesn’t look good...
Agree with GOD. Integrators were awful.
Agree. With IBMers were preferred and retained in integration team , this will be more faster now. They will take GF to end of line same as IBM.
