Reliable home office source states, All assistant salaried mgrs will rated and compressed using the same process used for the co managers. Details still being finalized. AP ASM will be combined with another role and restructured. Amount of cuts will depend on store size, sales, risk, etc.

We need a new retail chain. Retail is not dead if customer service and the shopping experience is favorable for customers. People still exist. Women and old lonely people will still love to shop and talk the employees ears off. Just nod and smile. Can a machine do that?
Sam Walton would never have done this to his employees he card for us he took care of his people
Now there all about the money not the people
Shame on the Walton family and Doug McMillan
Reading and hearing a lot of different things but all from months ago. Anyone hearing anything recently?
I heard last week that APM’s would be eliminated except for Academy locations and that MAPM’s would be cut in half.
Doug it’s unbecoming to write your post concerns others. The raise comes at the cost of staffing reductions. Long term associates let go. Stop drinking the Koolaid. Wake up to the facts. All the feel good stuff is nothing but OR and cost someone thief job!!!!!!!!’
We are adding 6 assistants finally! Been understaffed a year now. No other stores in my market reduced ASMs. Unsure about the validity of the original post!
Our CEO Doug could care less he made 22.8 million dollars as reported so
why should he be worried about anyone else? Apparently they think hes
going make Walmart great again! Sam Walton would have NEVER done his
employees this way!!
Thanks for the info but you talk like someone who’s job is safe. What if you were on the chopping block or worse yet already let go. It’s not easy to see the business side of things when your blood sweat and tears have been poured into this company for years and for a lot of people decades. It hurts. So please forgive some people if they are a bit angry there lives just got thrown in a whirlwind.
Some supercenters losing jewelry. Accounting positions gone. Already fired. ASSM's supposed to be adjusted to need based upon size of location. Some will be offered support spots, and supports then will be subject to availability of what's left. Walmart's moving forward with online book sales, etc. Stock is up. Operational changes are to drive the company not make 1 guy rich or attack certain employees. Perhaps disgruntled people should give back the last 3 yrs raises they got made possible by these types of changes and all the extra income they've had over those 3 yrs while they complain. Its a business. Get in and push.

I know that’s right!
This happened at Sam's Club. So I believe true.
Is this a home office scare tactic?
Any dates on the announcement?
I hope the assistant rumor is true that will be my way OUT!!
Any timeline on when this is supposed to be happening?
Them people at home office are clueless about how to run a store. Nobody is happy when you walk in I wonder why? It wasn’t like that decades ago. They keep taking from the people that got them to the top. Home offices goal is to get people to quit or go crazy with their stupid programs. It’s a retail store, not NASA. You sell cheap china junk! Ok?
I have an idea...let’s just get rid of all Walmart employees in the brick and mortar stores and let the pencil pushers at home office run them along with the eCommerce associates. That’s badically what it’s coming down to anyway.
No job is safe
They will merge the depts and cut dept managers in half. Sounds like they are cutting Assts.
Some associates at my store are already being phased into new roles, transferring to new stores or offered severance packages.
Correction
1or2
No more 3rd shift moving associate to 1 or 3
Curious how many supercenters are changing their over night hours? If it becomes a company wide move hundreds of thousands will lose jobs in all areas including all management positions.
Is it every assistant or the older assistant
The dollar Sunday differentials gone.
The overnight dollar differential is gone.
Profit-sharing is gone.
Merit raises are gone.
Set scheduling is gone.
Long list of things that are going on since I started.
I’m not saying you can’t make good money there, I did when I worked there over a decade. But now there’s no incentive to work there you get 2 percent a year. That’s why people do the least amount of work now everybody gets the same raise. Merits are gone profit-sharing is gone...
Gone Gone Gone!!!
They just keep taking! And then they do these PR stunts making it seems like everyone is sooo happy! Lol
I see them cutting MAPM’s in half before cutting a whole bunch of APASM’s due to Walmart spending all that money on having every APASM wicklander certified. I think eventually it will be cut down to half the ASM’s in the store and 1 APASM. And some stores will just run SM and 1 ASM. And then have 3-4 support managers to open and close the store.
Do you realize the federal minimum wage should be 19.75 an hour?
Walmart wages are no longer competitive starting pay at other retailers are much higher. That was my point.
Sounds like Sam's Club. They combined the AP with Grocery Consumables and now it's the GCCM, Grocery Compliance Consumables Manager.
If Walmart ever announces something good you can be sure something extremely bad is coming. Until America stops shopping there they will keep on bullying people.
Winter is coming!
Retail needs first, then patient needs!
@kae Walmart can pay above the abysmal minimum wage and still be paying low wages.
I dont understand why people say walmart has low wages. In kentucky minimum wage is 7.25 and starting wage with Walmart is well above that. For me I would love to find something elsewhere but the pay I'm at with Walmart makes it difficult to move because I would easily take a pay cut.
I actually reached out for more information about the college offer and someone called me back but I missed their call. I'm sure there was a catch to it somewhere but I may try to call them back when I get time.
The college offer was a PR stunt.
Everything they do is a deflection of their low wages.
Have any other stores heard of a new policy change where you can not step down as a manager anymore, you have to quit, and it makes you a future no hire with the company? It doesnt make sense a company would start the $1 a day college offer that helps us get a management degree but are basically moving us up to send us straight out the door.
What other role would they combine APASM
with? I don’t doubt eventual cuts to ASM’s, I just don’t see them changing the APASM role this soon after a major change earlier in the year.
Wait until Amazon Pharmacy and Pillpack start hurting WM Rx.
The thread is about assistant managers. What are all these comments about pharmacy?????
I used to think being in pharmacy was a bit of job security since we are a high volume pharmacy. These days I'm not sure any of us have job security with Walmart. So sad.
