When has it been anything other than a quarterly reportin the business world? Who would benefit from this change? Whose decision was it to make business beholden to the next quarter (other than any other time measure) as the end and and be all of corporate performance? Do you think there is any correlation bt that and the execs who need to boost stock performance bc they are compensated in options?

I think the CEOs want this to lessen the scrutiny so they can rip people off even more. Or because they have found some scheme to inflate their already swollen salaries and stock options. Not to be trusted. Nothing these CEOs have proposed has benefited anyone but themselves. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!

In a way, I agree too. Too many companies are far too focused on meeting the quarterly expectations. In the end, it will be the SEC's decision.

This might actually be a positive change. I've spent 15 years watching Oracle Sales making all the wrong decisions because they were worried about the quarterly number. Pressure coming from upstairs is way too strong, and the customer ends up paying the price (literally). This might be a good change for IT companies in general, and their customers. Of course, imagining that Oracle would use this change to benefit the customers might be more wishful thinking that anything else, but...
