Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

What if we are offered lower paying position?

I understand we are expected to accept comparable paying job or risk losing severance, but what if there are lower paying available jobs?

Will we be expected to accept those under the same threat of losing out on severance or can we say no to those and still get severance package?

I took Severance when my position was eliminated (Front End Zone) and I got unemployment at the same time. Just take all positions out of your career preference and they can’t actually offer you anything. I had casual mentions of we will give you this position, that position. But I just said No I am taking the severance. It does not mess up your severance if they can’t officially offer you another position. So don’t put anything in your preference!

How would a third party company offer a job unless the associate applied for it?

Take everything out of your career pref. If you don’t pull up in a req they can’t offer you anything comparable means in pay, schedule and duties if there is nothing that compares your good. If your mkt people say you HAVE to take a lesserposition they are incorrect and you can call the home office and fight it. I know an office clerk that wS lied to and managed to get quit with severance a year after cause she got the correct info and fought it. She also documented her conversations with mgmnt, the mkt and had a witness.

i believe that is why they are offering a severance package. Because by law ? not sure of law but Im thinking I read that somewhere maybe the wire/list of walmart policy, because no other job in the store is comparable to the duties they have to offer a severance package. If you choose to take a lower paying position that is your choice but you also don't have to take any position in the store since there is no comparable job. I believe it is one week pay for each year of service. Also you can apply for unemployment since technically you were laid off but only after your severance is up so say you worked there five years you get five weeks pay and then you can apply for unemployment. ....you see where my thoughts are landing with this BS. Been researching.

My market human resource manager said you CAN be expected to take a lower paying position IF it's a COMPARABLE job. There is no comparable job; however, if a 3rd party company does our hiring and they offer you a position, then yes, you will be expected to take it or no severance. I am waiting it out.

No you will not be expected to take a lower paying position. The safest position in the store now days is the cap team. They do not have to offer you a position keep in mind of your current preferences that you already have set and fix it accordingly. You can also opt to put in a transfer request and have your preferences set to a position that your willing to take and can be multiple stores that has avail openings. I plan on riding out my 90 days they cant force a position on you just double check preferences and don't let them screw you over. If there is a issue that arise and there forcing you don't call home office call ethics.

Worse. You'll be coerced into that idignity, then mentally and emotionally battered on until you quit or get fired, and then replaced with cheaper, younger labor. Because I assure you: that is the goal.
