Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Pink slip holder

Not rying to defend any one but this is how I feel.

As a person that got my papers this monday I can tell you that I did not need a union official to hold my hand and tell me it was going to be OK. I knew my way to the door. Why would they be there I hardly ever see them. The people I cared about were there. Some walked out with me others I know were upset to see us go. I just hope that those fckrs at the hall are there when I have a question about benefits or employment opportunities.

I think that this agreement is YOUR one year extension. When work comes back GE will evaluate where everyone stands and work will go to the most competitive.

If this passes and work doescomes back, dont point fingers and say that you knew all along they were just trying to bend us over backwards and all of this was a big conspiracy.

Instead, pat yourself in the back and know that if I dont get called back you will have my respect and should have the respect of those who do get called back, we will know that this brotherhood everyone speaks of, actually make a sacrifice to see that we make it back in.

Good luck to all.

@UBN7Bb0-1sir.... you obviously weren't around for the battery plant proposal. That was a Oscar worthy performance. Don't under estimate the level GE will stoop to for their own gain.

If this is a scare tactic, then I'm going to give (muti-billion company) GE a standing ovation for such an elavorate skeem to try and make (drop in the bucket) Schenectady bend to their demands.

Some times we need to look at the bigger picture and understand that we are not as important as we think we are.

One of the most straight forward common sense posting in a long time. No matter what happens, you will do well. You have the right attitude and that is the most crucial part to have. Best of luck!

I don't know whether to say sorry to hear about this or congratulations... GE is FUBAR! Can you tell me about what they offered as their "severance package"? Was there any benefit to going voluntarily?
