Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

A NO vote, why?!

A No vote comes from peoole who dont want to give up they a-- time. WE all love our a-- time, but its time to put on our big boy pants and do what as real Americans do, WORK until we get out of a fckd up situation.

The NO votes come from people that would rather "walk/strike", than do more worl while getting paid for it. A strike in these time is an id--tic strategy.

Also comes from people who think the $10 gap its still a posibility. GE will never give up that money when the stock has gone in half in the last 2 yrs.

Comes from people that think that Salem Virginia had an opporyunity to vote on a proposal. Salem Did NOT Have A Chance To Vote. At that point union officials were scarmbling to give up everything they could to make it work. Willing to give up wages and have unpaid breaks. When you elect a union official in you are giving the a vote of confisence to negotiate a deal, not all members have to be involved in all negotiations.

A yes vote does not mean that you approve of the union officials it means that you are willing to do whst it tskes to keep, not just YOUR job, but the jobs of your friends and collegues.

This could be the last step before a closing notice. GE is vendictive and dont put it past them to do something drastic if this doesnt pass. Not a scare tactic, We all know they just dont give a fck about us.

If u think they will take it away in the next contract, then you have that much more where they to take it from.

If you think the plant is going to close either way, get all the money you can before you leave.

If tou think this place is going to become a service shop you better hope you are in core services family or have top 250 seniority, if not, your a-- is walking with the rest of us to the unemployment line.

@gyx

They have been bringing in truckloads of clean topsoil and dumping it out back for MONTHS. I count 1 truck every 9 minutes (I'm not in 273, so I can watch through the window).

So, yes, they don't need people to occupy the building to keep the EPA out, they are busy covering it up.

In the early 80's, GE Schenectady thought it was invincible. By the late 80's it was hemorrhaging and begging for mercy! In the early 2000's there were how many GE factories in NY? Now how many are there? There's a history lesson to be learned here. Don't fool yourselves into thinking that GE needs to keep a bunch of people working inside of a building to keep the EPA out. If that's what's giving anyone your confidence that you are safe and untouchable from layoffs or a complete shutdown, then you are fooling yourself and deserve to suffer after the fallout. If everything you have is riding on your job at GE, then it's pretty clear how that person should vote. If they had a better option, they should have taken it by now.
