Thread regarding Follett layoffs

And So It Begins........

The transition to close down the ADC has officially begun. A state of the art facility built roughly around 6 years ago, has gone to waste. So many idiotic decisions and terrible business strategies has hurt what has carried this company for over 100 years, but yet Corporate and the shareholders claim that the business has changed dramatically, and apparently, all they do is blame Amazon. Well did Amazon hire 3 CEO’s over the past 6 years? Did they employ the likes of MLS, RG, and the new guy, that no one actually knows, from failing, and ceasing to exist, companies to run Follett? Oh, and don’t forget the B&T acquisition, who was on the verge of bankruptcy for, well let’s not count how many times, in charge of everyday operations? As a former employeee, or team member, which they like to use, I would of loved to continue to pursue my career with Follett, but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and Follett’s D-Day is nearing.

Been away from Follett for 4 years after 10 years of service. Check this site here and there. Unfortunately all the same problems being discussed have been problems for years. Especially IT and the lack of support for stores on any level. My store was shut down and a virtual one put in place. No idea how it worked out. I’m sorry that nothing has changed. I really loved working on campus, but we saw the writing on the walls for 2 years before we shut down.

Wouldnt have to fix bugs if you listened to the needs of the user instead of blasting out a bunch of code and shoving it down their throats with no feedback loop along the way.

Yeah, it s---s when half of IT is laid off and there aren’t enough people left to add new features and fix bugs.

Because the known issue has to be logged in jira, wait no now its slack, wait no now its trello. From there it sits "waiting to be prioritized" until the que is bursting at the seems and a new piece of software is used to log "known issues". Meanwhile nothing is carried over and everything previously logged is wiped out and forgotten.

Perfect way to fail fast

My favorite...

It's a known issue.

So with $50 mil in ecom money, why hasn't the know issue been Identified and fixed. Like right now?

Breathtaking incompetence!

The writing has been on the wall for a long time. Someone within the organization has had to out for the ADC for a while now. They will probably outsource to a third party warehouse provider and pay a hefty fee for those services compared to the cost to operate the way we do now. Clearly the people in charge are complete morons and don't understand economies of scale or their own f*g market.

Is this why my wantlisting turns up nothing forcing the wantlisting to MBS to get used books, how dumb is this?

Last chance for a Follett family member to step in and veto this awful decision. Stores will fold within two years without aurora warehouse and the rest of the house of cards starts tumbling.

Is that why rental surplus returns are being delayed? Which is dumb because books could be wantlisted to other stores.
