Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Forcing people to quit

Lately it feels like HPE has given up on layoff in exchange of forcing people to leave on their own. Bullying at workplace is out of control, and there are zero repercussions for main offenders.

I've seen two people quit in the past month due to this. Anybody else noticing similar things happening?

You will be replaced by a pleasure-bot.

That's because you will be replaced by someone younger and cheaper.

Forget about it! Just quit and move on. Good Luck to All!

" I would trust HPE management to make good judgment calls here, just about as far as I could throw them!"

Sad, but true. Bill and Dave have been gone for a long time, and the HP Way died with them.

"... top management may very well throw lower management (or worker bees) under the bus, for making trouble."

...

They may throw the bully under the bus, or they may throw YOU under the bus, for complaining! I would trust HPE management to make good judgment calls here, just about as far as I could throw them! Which is to say, not at all! Unless you can make a bullet-proof case, that can be taken to court if need be.

You can always tape-record secretly (stick a recorded in your pocket), and seal your lips forever, about that, if you live in a state with silly laws surrounding this issue. Then afterwards, transcribe word-for-word, to paper copy, sign and date it. Now you can state, straight-faced and honest, with paper copy, that you transcribed ("nearly" 100% accurate, ahem) it word for word, after your conversations. If the bullying is bad enough, those PAPER copies of your conversations will be worth their weight in gold!

If you're a member of any kind of "protected class", you may prevail, in court or out of court. If you're not protected-class... Good luck!

On the bullying, just some suggestions... Find out in your state, is it legal for you to tape-record (or otherwise auto-record) conversations in which you are a part of. In some states (Illinois for example) you have to ask the other person's permission. If the bullies are non-managers, if you can record them in their bad behavior, to take it to management or HR, it may help. Sad to say, HR is almost always totally in the pocket of top management. If the bullying is really bad or se_xual related, top management may very well throw lower management (or worker bees) under the bus, for making trouble.

If the bullying is run-of-the-mill management BS (colonize the moon by 3 days from now, and here is your $15-budget), then you really have no other recourse than to grin and bear it, wait for your go-away money, or find a better employer...

If the bullies are co-workers, ask your manager if you can record them.

In ALL states in the USA, to my knowledge, it is legal to hand-write down, what others say... If you wrote it down and they did not, your testimony will prevail in court.

Sorry to say but this has been going on for a long while. I would not say that bullying has been the the major factor. Instead it has been focused on just making it uncomfortable. No raises or weak bonuses. Promotions denied. It is more than enough to motivate someone to look elsewhere.

And why not. Economic trends point to this being a better time than ever to move to a new job. Put yourself out there. It may take weeks or months or even longer but you will get something.
