SL is truly representative of what is wrong with Mattel Management. Ever failing upward, a hot potato no one wanted to have around. Incompetent, yet egotistical. Would talk down to experts.
Want to fix Mattel? NO ONE sits in a Manager's seat unless they can do the job their direct reports can do. They need the expertise and the ability to teach and lead those who report to them. No Director sits without being able to do all that their Managers do. No VP sits without being fully aware of the jobs of everyone below them.
Weed out the inept know-nothings and let's get Toy Designers leading Design, Toy Marketing Specialists Leading Marketing, and drive the bean counters into the sea. Cut 50% of the positions above Director. We don't need a VP, SR VP, and Exec VP of the same thing. One will do. The rest are window dressing. Expensive Window Dressing.
