Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

You'll be okay

Even if you are laid off, you'll be better off. Verizon is one of the worst companies when it comes to how it treats it employees.

No matter where you land after this, it can't be much worse. Actually, it will most likely be much better.

I was laid off two years ago, now I finally know what job security and respecting your leadership means.

You'll be okay.

"I've worked for Verizon for 23 years. Great company, great benefits, great family!!!"

Dont know about you but my family doesn't kick me out if they feel like it will save them money. This is a job, not a family. We may have some good friendships, even people we would hang with outside the job. We do our work to the best of our ability and hope for the best, but we are all potentially one layoff from getting the boot. No normal family is like that.

Jkc

Good for you. Unfortunately, many dedicated and great employees with 20+ years of service have been shown the door. Watch your back, because it could be your turn next.

Verizon compensate employees pretty well. Wages, commissions, bonuses, vacations, tuition assistance, etc... If that is all we use to measure how VZ treats its employees, then it would be easy to say that it treats them very well.

In the real VZ world, however, it's a constant day to day struggle. My direct manager is awesome. His boss - maybe a bit less awesome. And HIS direct boss is a pile of steaming cow pucky. I come to work each day wondering if there will be notices of layoffs. I come to work each day wondering what part of my job will change that day. I leave work each day stressed out - but well compensated.

I'm getting too old for this shít...but I'm not sure I can do any better anywhere else.

Good Post and very accurate and.... Verizon Retail, you will be laid off. The only question is when. Pause a moment and take a look if you have been here for any length of time. How often is VZ laying off? Annually and usually April or May. How many employees have been shown the door over the past 5 years? Thousands! Call centers - finance - customer service - tech support - ES and now SM's along with sales in some areas due to store closures. There is no job security here at VZ unless your name is Lowell McAdams. Be wise everyone - don't sit idle waiting for the severance check even that could change as quick as your commission structure. The job market is good open your eyes there's a better situation for everyone of you, end it may already be right in front of you. Good luck all - keep your head up the future is brighter than you think.
