Well, I have been part of an acquision and there were 2 good years of promotions and stability before it became normal Oracle. Updating your CV is always a good idea but you do not need to leave in hurry while your wages are paid.
They WILL run it into the ground. First year will be full of promise and excitement because Oracle will let them operate pretty independently at first. Then the wheels come off as Oracle management starts to bring them into the fold. Just look at the companies that were purchased as part of the Oracle Marketing Cloud for proof. The DataSience guys should start updating their resumes.
Sounds customers are fleeing also then. They are making the right choice to avoid Oracle.
Lots of customers looking at alternatives because they don't want to deal with the BIG RED O.
I'm sure any data Science employees who know what they are doing have already fled in terror.
That terror is justified, you don't want to work for Oracle.
We’ll run it into the ground like every other company we get our hands on. There customers are in for a shock.
I thought LE said there was no one left to buy! Only "organic growth" from now on. Funny how that's a lie too.
Interesting to note that the rest of the cloud providers are working toward integrating with each other where Oracle just acquires companies to do everything on its own. Open source and global shared cloud across providers vs closed source with one provider that doesn't even own its own data centers. Funny
Datascience.com is a project management and collaboration platform. I don't know any Data Scientists who would hand their projects over to a system locked down by Oracle and would be tied to Oracle cloud in the future. Machine learning is a heavily open source environment that changes very rapidly; I am not sure how a closed source management platform could keep up or be appealing to this market.
