Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Excellent read

Excellent explanation by @TUD6zHt-1jve, thought it deserved its own thread:

And the crappy part is even with all the layoffs, outsourcing, factories to mexico our U.S. numbers are still down. It's third grade math. Example.... We make a cookie for a $1.50. and sell it for $2.00. Assume we get a cost of living raise, now the profit is down to $.45. Insurance for health and vehicles went up again as it always does. Now we're down to $.38. Commodities and fuel also went up. Ok, now it's $.32. Oh, and don't forget our competitors don't have all the overhead we have so theirs are cheaper. Now we have to lower the price even more just to stay somewhat competitive. Now we are at $.26. And lets say customer used to buy 1000 of them but because people are becoming more health conscious they are only buying 800. See how easy it is? Right now we're doing pretty good over sea's but not so much here.

Better prices = sell more products

Basic math

We all know the writings on the wall.

It's just of a matter of when they pull the plug on DSD.

My guess is a slower process compared to Keebler cutting the cord all at once.

Layoffs will come in waves! Watch and see

Did you ever think that perhaps the shelves are empty cause they are selling more? Maybe time to give that a thought!

Redo your math at the correct price of .10-.75 per item and you lose your case

The point is nabisco has added cost vs Keebler that why Kellogg is beating u at retail nabisco pricing doesn’t compete with Kellogg less overhead for Kellogg more overhead with dsd at nabisco

So very true. Other DSD companies will follow. They are committed but retailers have different plans. Make what you can make, save what you can. Take the severance then look for other employment. No need to stress. Good luck to all. It's been a pleasure.

Since Mondelez won’t be making the call it’s easy for management to say we’re committed. When retailers pull the plug, they can hide behind the story that they didn’t know! Pretty easy to understand!! Been there and done that!!

How corporate America operates! Only obligation is to their shareholders, employment at will for the rest of us!

The only accurate thing you said is stores won't take care of it like we do. Probably true, but their profit margin will be much better and we won't have to throw out $600 of out dated crackers a month and a half later.

My DM wouldn't lie! He's a Christian man. DSD isn't going away. We make too much money. Store's won't take care of it like we do.

DSD is King!!!
