I quit Follett many years ago to go to another company and almost right away (remember this was years ago) I had regrets so I called a month later and inquired about my old job. It was a low moment, as they say, but I was young and all. They did not take me back. A candidate had been chosen, which was fair enough. What I didn't know was that the superior-minded heroes I reported to decided to tell some of my friends within the company that I "begged for my job back." This was a bit of an overstatement as well as a pretty classless move.
Also found out later I was tagged as "do not rehire" because I had gone to a competitor (in a completely different role in a different market). When I inquired about a few other opportunities in later months, no one had the nuts to inform me, they just made up stories about relocation costs, internal candidates (for jobs that stayed open for months later) etc.
Anyway, life moved on and I am in a fantastic job now. The job I flipped to turned out to be great for my development and I used that to vault into an even better situation in the public sector making roughly 3x my best FHEG wage. Anyway, one of my departments recently pilfered a couple FHEG managers of high quality and character. One of them recently told me that my previous supervisor called them after they put in their notice AND LITERALLY BEGGED them to stay. That's right, they begged. Can't say that didn't make me smile the smile of someone with a long memory and a bright future.
I'm sure some FHEG person scouring this board for traitors (and maybe hope) will recognize who I am by the details of this post. So be it. After all, it was established that telling everyone about someone's low moments, begging if you will, is good business.
