All the rumors and crying about layoffs, FOR WHAT? Everyone that hates BBB and wants us to fail needs to quit and stay off of here. I LOVE BBB and my district/regional staff! Things change and if you can’t roll with the punches you shouldn’t be in retail. All the people that were laid off in August were complacent and deadweights (not to mention overpaid). My department manager was making only a few grand less than me and was so LAZY. Good riddance! BBB is doing just fine and will continue to succeed and give our guests expert customer service!!!!

They laid off any Dept Manager that was making over 50 Grand. Period. The End.
I have to say that you saying the people laid off were lazy, complacent and overpaid is not only insulting to most us that were laid off but not true.. I gave bbb 17 yrs of hard work not only that I went above and beyond what my daily job entailed. I was a hard working dept manager plus a regional trainer, a store keyholder that ran the building when needed. I expressed my desire to be promoted over the years and yet nothing.. I know that there were quite a few dept managers that just came to work there hours and went home but that was not everyone I can attest to that... so maybe you should keep your opinions about something you know nothing about... and pray that you never have to know what it feels like to be let go of a job you love...
One of the worst things to happen to someone is too lose there job. Especially when you have invested 12 years in BBandEvil. The way they did was uncalled for lazy never. We where there thru thick and thin with this company and too be tossed to the curb like garbage.
Based on the earnings this afternoon, the unwillingness by the so-called management team to massively reduce the store count -- except for quietly closing expiring leases unfriendly to renewal -- I see the writing on the wall as well, times have changed. The latest survey showing that the freakin' $5 and 20% coupons are no longer attracting customers as they were just a few years ago is another nail in the coffin. The new $29 Beyond+ incentive helps, but I am skeptical how long that price will hold given the shipping costs being absorbed. This company keeps adding stores to the dismay of the analysts; unfortunately, the customer buying habits have indeed changed, their brick and mortar, no mater how you plug the gaps with extra mortar, will ultimately be the reason for either their complete collapse or becoming some form of e-retailer, maybe even a much smaller company after a private equity buyer comes in and slaughters what we know today.
Retail is a dying breed. People spending habits change. I love bbb also but you have to see the future and a future it doesn't have. Stores come and go, look at history.

Mr. SM is one of the many bad attitude employees I’m speaking of. If you hate your job and your DM so much, why don’t you just get out and let someone who cares take your place? You’re just as bad as the sorry, lazy department managers that were shown the door in August. Good luck staying afloat, you’re probably on your way to a PIP and being shown the door with your buddies.

You really should be careful on here , your being watched by the trolls at Corp. yes I do know your DM and he is aware of your behavior, your not as clever as you think, good luck your going to need it. Your staff deserves better than you, on to the next challenge.

I know you (I’m a firmer Sm that got out a while back) you were not as good as you act, we all know that and just so you understand there’s a reason your still there, brainless. That’s Ms. Store Manager to you, sweetheart. People fire themselves and lay themselves off. If someone is a lazy piece of trash who has been stagnant since I came to the store, that doesn’t fall on me. BBB is a growing Company that’s doing just fine without all of you lazy whiners. My DM is the best and I love that he’s not afraid to tell it like it is and fire underperforming losers that are tying up hours and payroll for people that deserve it.
If your department manager was lazy and underperforming, that falls on you and you alone, Mr store manager. Sounds like you failed to motivate and increase performance, and you should have been the one on the chopping block.
How dare you say that about the people laid off!! I worked with many of them at various locations and they were hard working devoted employees! The way BBB went about this was cowardly and just shows the mind set of the jerk S.T.

You probably work 75 hours a week, which equals 11 bucks an hour for you because you have no life outside of work, so you think every Manager around you is lazy and overpaid. You probably are a Store Manager making 60000, (after working 75 hours a week equals minimum wage) bitter that a Dept Manager was making a little less than you because he/she knew how to negotiate a better salary than you did.
