Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Toxic Hell-hole

I'm in an over staffed role and witness every day how much morale has tanked in ET. People can't sleep, their health has suffered, they're experiencing anxiety and depression. Is any job worth all the stress?

I sincerely hope I don't get a job offer. Would give me an opportunity to retire and do something else. I suspect that State Farm will be a toxic hell hole for several years.

Your thoughts...from actual employees or retirees please.

I took early retirement in 2017. Currently, I work part time with complete control over my schedule and love everything about my work. As a wise friend said to me as I contemplated retiring, "Have you ever known anyone to say, 'Gee, I wish I had never retired.'"

And yes, it is and has been a toxic hell hole since the inception of CDE.

Understaffed, kept my job, but yes - toxicity abounds. Too much damage done. I'm sure there will be some level of rebounding after the forming and storming, but in my mind, it's already a lost cause. Weird to be #1 in auto insurance and yet certain of the trend to complete failure.

And yes, I'm actively working my way out now.

It disrupting to root up and leave comfort zones. Just human nature. However, there are significantly more job openings than people available to work, especially in US tech. Two percent for those with college degrees. Be a free agent.

Better then s happens now than right after the 08-10 recession or the next one coming.

There's a lot more opportunities out there then you realise. I got my end date and had great luck so far interviewing outside of the farm. Actually looking forward to some change. It's not the end of the world. Do I hold some animosity toward the farm yes but hey life goes on.

I am retiring July 1 but am already on vacation and not returning. I am so glad to be out of there. Earlier than i planned but it was so demoralizing. Go if you cannas soon as you can, to retirement or to a new job. Its not going to end soon, they wikl turn people against one another while they try to stay employed. SF still thinks they are a big dog bit arent even one in BN now. Fools.

I am a former Systems Employee (to me, ET is a wrinkly little alien with a glowing finger) who was eliminated at the end of March.

I didn't mind it. The place had really started going to sh--.

I'm working at a new place now. I'm not sure I like the new job either, to be honest, but it pays more and the environment is pleasant, kind of like how State Farm used to be. All in all, I'm happy to be away from State Farm.

Well, Claims is very toxic right now. Of course it's always going to be somewhat stressful in claims, as claims are inherently difficult. But it's being made worse by the current work conditions. Currently the work is piling up day by day and there aren't enough people doing it. It looks like this is the case at both the Para-prof and Prof level. Voluntary and involuntary terminations seem to be on the rise, and replacements are not coming fast enough. Actually, we do not even seem to be replacing anyone at all. Plus all the people that just don't show up for work at all. So that just means the rest of us are run like a machine on full speed non-stop M-F for 7.75 hours and then some, and then we are asked to come in on the weekend too on top of it so you never really wind down from it all.

Yeah, so toxic hell pretty much.
