Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Wave 2 - the big one bites

The next round of cuts is the big one for SF, for those in Systems / projects areas in roles deened "overstaffed" at Corporate South.

Mid-May was wave 1, where approx 3600 professional/tech in understaffed and maintain eoles were offered A position, in one form or another.

Wave 2 announcements will occur "mid-June", so either this or next week (work week beginning 6/11 or 6/18).. In wave 2, approx 1750 prof/tech from Systems / Projects / Corp South in roles deemed overstaffed will learn their fate. This time, only about 1250 will be offered a position in one form or anothet - .several hundred of which must move from BLM to a hub to maintain employment. The remaining 500 be given pink slips nd no severance. All changes from waves 1 & 2 take effect 7/14.

Disclaimer: I left out a few details, and did not address all cases / flavors - just the main points - with estimated and rounded nunbers. Other minor, unstated disclaimers may apply. This paragraph is provided primarily for the trolls, in an idyllic attempt to temporarily pacify their diseased search for self-worth (e.g, by lashing out to feel superior), by pre-emptively acknowledging their existence. Some very affected trolls will still lash out, but it is only an annoyance - it won't be further fed beyond this initial acknowledgement.

A friend of mine still working and waiting told me about this site. I left about two years ago. Based on the work I was doing and the unlikely people in Leadership roles the writing was on the wall. I didn’t want to experience it. I am truly sorry that you are going through this and I am wishing everyone the very best of outcomes.

If you are impacted I hope that you end up on top and better off for it. Again best wishes.

Whatever may be has already been decided. It’s easy for some to say “this has been a long time coming” or “we did it to ourselves”. Either way it’s not a pleasant situations for those being affected and I wish all of those much peace in the future.

Regardless of what's on MyBlock, it is leadership's published goal of eliminating 900 IT jobs in BloNo --> https://www.pantagraph.com/business/local/state-farm-cutting-nearly-analyst-jobs-in-b-n-some/article_825ad613-65ed-5150-b5b3-460cfabbaf08.html

Also remember HUNDREDS of IT professional level jobs have been shed in Bloomington already. P&M function, first line and higher leadership, L&D, etc.

Does anyone have a fuller accounting of jobs lost in Bloomington?

I heard leadership meeting 6/12 then announcements 6/14. Also heard that the numbers aren't as bad as originally projected...but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I’ll just add that I’ve heard from multiple sources that selections have been made. Don’t know of timing for announcement. Good luck y’all

Poster Ecg you are a moron. Those jobs are wage hour sweat shop jobs to replace professionals. I hope you are among the laid off and get a good greeter job at Walmart.

OP here... correct, this info is months old. Posted here as a refresh due to significance, timing, and varying audiences - not all of whom have the info. I thought of leading with this disclaimer, then chose a vague catch-all in the disclaimers paragraph which really didn't cut it.

Have to say, I'll still post occasionally, but with all the ways it can go wrong, it's barely worth the effort.

Bullsnot there are hundreds of great jobs on myblock and state farm.com. Last I looked, there were around 24 professional postings for Bloomington. Almost half weren't available to internal employees. They're only there for us to refer someone not already employed at SF.

Your math must be different from mine.

Welcome to what we all aready knew months ago. Especially those in wave 2 job classes. Never hurts to refresh the topic though. Love how SF never files a warn notice for any of this which is legal given the numbers. Welcome evryone to the largest local layoff since the Mitsubishi close. God bless everyone.
