When someone says mat. leave, meaning maternity leave, meaning a mother taking leave, it's fair to assume 'she'. Otherwise, the person should have said paternity leave, or parental leave.

There's a difference between getting a bump in grade and competing for a new role. Persons on parental leave are entitled to compete for a role the same as any other employee. And if they are successful, they can be awarded that role. Not sure why that's so hard to understand...

It seams you dont know law and enbridg leave policy. Law says anyone on mat leave or other leave is not entitled to promotions or salary increase. The leave only guarantees the position for the time of the leave and when they come back they start at same level and salary ar tim when they started leave.

There ar people who were working remotely for years from home and they promoted them to senior managers in the past. So everything is possible with enbridg. Rules are for regular hardworking professional employees only.

Seriously?!? You're here to complain about the company following the law and not discriminating against someone on maternity leave? She is entitled to that promotion as much as anyone else, and if her interview was better than yours, and she's qualified for the role, she deserves the job. Christ, what's even more ridiculous is that I felt the need to make this comment at all...

My thoughts: don’t take anything seriously and personally coz you will just get stressed out. Sometimes it is not how well you do the job or how much education you have or how qualified you are for higher positions, it is how well you get along with your management and how good you can make them believe that you deserve it. “It is whom you know” works best in this company. I have seen people in my business unit who does online shopping a lot, book vacation during office hours, study for their courses during office hours, contractors who come in 9-5 but still pull 50-70hrs a week hahaha. There is one lady in my unit that name drop her people leader’s name all the time if she doesn’t get what she wants. Someone acted very busy all the time with lots of work from home and gets promoted and was able to hire “help”. So yeah, I am not surprised coz anything is possible if you are well connected. No work? I am pretty sure someone can make work for you when you are well connected. Don’t take things seriously, a lot of people are just doing bare minimum anyway.
