Yes, and I can think of only one reason why State Farm would have purchased so much stock in Lee, and it's not because they think it's a good investment.

5-jub-you are correct SF does in fact own sizable share of Lee Enterprises. I stand corrected. Thanks for the proof source.

The job fair was primarily entry level $16/hr jobs. It was good PR to advertise 300 jobs but the reality is those jobs aren't comparable to the hundreds of jobs eliminated.

Are you freaking kidding me? They have now gotten rid of their experienced workers. They have gotten rid of all of us that have busted our asses for over 20 years and now want to rehire?? Good thing I have my lawsuit in action. Tipsy had run this company into the ground.

State Farm owns over 500,000 shares in Lee Enterprises. Where are you getting your information?

Here's where I got mine: https://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/lee/institutional-holdings

One point of clarification for accuracy-SF is NOT a major holder of Lee Enterprises/ Newspapers. SF owns zero stock in this-newspapers is not something the company invests in. Actually, Berkshire Hathaway has stock holdings in Lee. Need a different conspiracy theory on this one.

In L&D layoff meeting the guy laughed at us nervously when telling us we are unqualified for the new jobs.

That is such poor form. There are a thousand ways to communicate such a point without laughing and using the term "unqualified." For example, he could have said something along the lines of, "The qualifications for these jobs may be different than what you're doing now, but they are listed in the job posting and if you feel you are qualified you are more than welcome to apply."

I mean, how does he even KNOW all of you were unqualified? Does he truly think he's an expert on every qualification or lack thereof of everyone in your department. That's awfully presumptuous. I mean, I worked at SF for 17 years and there were plenty of qualifications that I had that I never communicated to my manager because they weren't relevant at the time.

Um it is true. In L&D layoff meeting the guy laughed at us nervously when telling us we are unqualified for the new jobs. My guess is this job fair is for a bunch of low paying phone jobs in various areas where they will be given PTO they are not allowed to take. And to the person who asked if the community knows the truth, yes they do. Everyone from restaurant owners to doctors and dentists have lost business. All of them have asked their patrons and161 patients whats truly going on. And getting the truth. SF owns major stock in Lee Newspapers which owns the Pantagraph and you will never hear the truth through that method. Lee treats their people horribly, laying them off with no warning.. They are not about to say anything about the Farm.

I realize the Panty-Graph isn't reporting the actual news, but does the general population in Bloomington know what's going on or has SF being successful at obscuring the truth?

Yeah...so when all is said and done I would like to see the list of these 300 people. Names and departments please...maybe the Pantagraph will be kind enough to post ?! They are not reporting the hundreds of jobs being lost throughout the company over and above the IT world. Funny how they pick and choose what to report...rather than the true actual news.

thousands and thousands and thousands of Farmers STILL proud of OUR company. Is this site more for sore losers and sour grapes?

No. The site is more for trolls like you. This is where you get to come and make lame comments denigrating the emotional angst of people whose careers are at stake with generalities about "thousands of farmers" that have no basis in reality.

If you don’t like the sourness of the grapes, keep drinking the kool-aid. Your day will come.

I’m not counting on Pension heard the same at a cookout this weekend. I hope they offer a higher match on 401k it makes sense for long term if u want to leave roll it out. I think the long term employee model is gone. To much dead weight per HR rep conversation this weekend

@T7dTLBG-2vln you are ONE....not sure how you can speak for thousands and thousands and how prideful they may feel in State Farm's employ at the moment. I used to be one of the proud...sadly not any more. Many probably feel as I do...but I would not presume to speak for them.

This tells me that a substantial number of those offered transfers to Bloomington, mainly from Tacoma (claims), chose not to relocate and are rolling the dice in their hometown. For the last time, to our local leaders, Bloomington is NOT a destination! Meanwhile, State Farm gets to use this job fair as a PR stunt to show their commitment to having a "significant presense" in Bloomington.

The L&D people let go were told they were not qualified to post for these new jobs...and the guy laughed in their face.

I hope that's not true. That's like adding gasoline to the fire. I'm glad I don't work anywhere near that powder keg.

Anyone left in IT world will be asked to do more work at an accelerated pace with significantly less people....wonder how that's going to help grow business?

People are going to be so stressed, burnt out...I can't even imagine? Good luck to those that make the cut, because your going to need it!

What happens when it's all done and it doesn't work? Then who gets blamed? The customer?

What baffles me is that the board apparently thinks it's okay to continue to let the executives who created this multi-billion dollar mess burn it up and shovel it under. Customers and employees get punished while those jack-wads keep their jobs, built multi-million dollar houses, pay their mistresses, or whatever else they want to do.

Why is the executive who created ISD still here?

Why?

Need to gear up for that production and growth. Good news for the local community too.

Net jobs lost in Bloomington will probably be over 800 -- and that's just what we know SO FAR.

This job expo (if it's a real thing -- I don't exactly see a link anywhere) is a PR stunt to make it look like State Farm isn't in the middle of the largest lay off in company history.

Why anyone would want to sign up for this mess is beyond me. Good luck though.
