Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm has a bigger issue at hand.

Most active board for sure....Posts by current employees, ex-employees, competitors and general observers. My overall observation is the company clearly has last its competitive edge with the real issue being a completely demoralized, pessimistic, distracted, irritable and cynical employee base. Perhaps it is a reflection of failed promises and poor performance by the executive management that seems to buyback shares and doling out dividends to keep institutions from selling those and keep their jobs. Deposing the CEO and executives of your biggest customer will further drive the company into the ground. (No, I am not an Apple troll). Your biggest competitors are salivating by the boneheaded decisions and failures you are able to pull off from the jaws of success. The semiconductor landscape is changing before your eyes and you are not seeing it. There have been no second acts in this industry and looking at the employee engagement, Qualcomm seems to be no different than what happened to Motorola and IBM. Only a new management team can provide the CPR and revive this company at this point...the death spiral began when Jana came in forcing the company to react to external pressure. Things have just continued to get worse and the Board seems to be paralyzed and stunned.

Next time you see a senior person sauntering around N or WT. Remember : they have their $rentention package as a 'key' person. Laying off folks is hard; but made much easier when you look at the size of the $rentention package.

Did I say $retention or $resentment ?

No go work work work. Weekend work coming up. Weekends. Holidays. Great time to send out emails and more urgent urgent status reports.
