Should have unionized. Unions absolutely help. It's necessary to have an entity with equal strength to the employer to bargain fairly. Otherwise the workers get the short end of the stick. If you don't like union dues, have a union that runs on volunteers only. If you think there won't be incentive to work, your wrong. There will be the positive incentive of better pay and treatment instead of negative incentives like fear and empty promises of advancement. It's true you can't help if the company wants to close your worksite, but with collective bargaining you can negotiate a situation that makes a terrible situation better. Think better severance and/or training/placement in new positions. And lastly having a target on your back is only a concern if you are afraid and don't have the support of your fellow workers. We wouldn't have the countless worker rights that we do if it weren't for people coming together and fighting to shift the balance in favor of the people doing the actual work.
OMG... how many? Which stores?
