After health insurance coverage from Qualcomm, can I Opt for no insurance

After layoff, qualcomm paying health insurance till end of June. After that I was told that I have

these options

(1) COBRA: Continue with same coverage but premium from your pocked (could bin e very expansive)

(2) Shop for insurance in https://www.coveredca.com/

(3) In the exit interview one of the HR person told me that you have option of not having any insurance without paying any penalty.

OP, you should know how healthy you are and whether you are someone who can get into accidents. If you know yourself well, don't waste money on health insurance.

Actually the gop tax plan did away with the individual mandate but kept the employer mandates so you are now free to go without insurance without a tax penalty.

Get the cheapest bronze kaiser plan, then if you have an accident or unexpected illness you will be able to get treatment.

1zsf. Terrible advise if you have a significant medical issue that costs $10’’s of thousands of dollars. But then you come crying for someone to pay your bills because you have spent all your money on a new car and entertainment electronics? Pay your way forward, don’t expect support on the backs of the others who work for a living!

Blame Obama. You must be covered by healthcare insurance.

If you're young, healthy, and have no family, don't bother with health insurance. If you get sick, just pay the doctor's fee. They will charge you less than they would charge the insurance company.

I am guessing that OP is relatively young, no family, doesn’t save for the future and spends his money on toys and will be the first to be crying for the government to pay his medical bills when he has any medical issues...

Welcome to the land of the masses of uninsured. Hazardous to your health and wealth. There is no link beyond googling 'repeal of individual mandate'.

America ! Land of the most expensive healthcare in the world. Poor or uninsured? Go to the 'get sick and die later' line.

I guess so. Individual mandate was repealed, so you can not have insurance and not get any tax penalty.
