Is it just me, or is AT&T nowadays not even hiding anymore that they are getting rid of everybody who fits under rule 70?
At least it used to be hidden in layoffs with younger people as well, now they just give us unattainable metrics and fire whomever they want - and usually those are the ones over 50 and with 20+ years with the company.
Really awful way to treat the company's most loyal employees.

How dare they demand decent pay and benefits??? AT&T needs that money for millions in executive bonuses and bribes to politicians.
If you look at the 2020 plan it clearly states the older work force is more reliable and works much harder, but they need to go because they want a living wage and decent benefits...how horrible they are!
Old are S... low and hard to train., millennials welcome apply just for low wages
Risk management job is to get the sick and old ASAP, pension consideration second, and rule 75 last, all techniques used in tandem makes a wonderful Human Resource team at class AT&T
I always thought it was rule of 75 that made an employee eligible for retirement benefits. Rule of 70 means they want to get them out before becoming eligible.
The thing I see is, landline phone is going the way of the dinosaur. It has been well announced. But, many who have been there the longest have been working in landline phone. Landline is where the layoffs are going to be most concentrated.
The employees are much more loyal to the company than the company is to them.
Why in the world a corporation keep old employees, welcome to globalization. Share holders love a cheap workforce
