Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Pointless Cork

Bloated support functions do not help the company. Why disproportionately grow a support division to satisfy management ego. It’s justice some of these decision makers have left or fired from Q, but the unnecessary staff still exist safegarded by Mgmt. Outsource 1st line support and take these oheads off ur books. Keep the real engineers safe

That’s an interesting observation. Care to put some numbers behind your ‘facts’?

How many people in IT outside of Europe? Couple of thousand?

IT cuts in Europe were what, about 50%?

What percentage of staff cut in India?

Whilst we’re focusing on details rather than making unfounded assertions, how about answering the question about your engineering degree?

Europe has a very high ratio of IT heads vs Engineering. Regardless of cost-per-head they are serving the Europe region only. This is one of many examples of wasted spend. India IT was scaled back. Why???

Op: how many IT heads in Cork? How many in India? San Diego?

Ok, now take the average cost of employment in each, and go worry about something that actually makes a significant difference to the bottom line.

Real engineers have engineering degrees from reputable universities. What was yours in, and from where?
