Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

So much anger

I see so many angry people here (with very good reason, mind you,) makes me wonder if there is anybody left who actually enjoys working at Verizon?

I think we are at the point where the best case scenario for employees here is that they do not dread going into work every day. They tolerate it.

How did we get to this point?

The Lowell era will be noted as the wound that never heals.

He pushed for the Vodafone buy out at a rediculous price. Now every decision is based on cash flow now.

Where they’ve invested it’s been a disaster with no cohesion or synergy.

What’s left over is jerks pushing their own agendas at the expense of anyone who doesn’t agree. They’ve driven out the people who care or know something and now it’s a game of musical chairs at the executive levels.

So yeah..... people are sour on the place because it’s a hotbed of arrogance and ignorance.

This is an inflection point where that small, still voice whispers into the heart of those who have fed the priceless moments of their lives into this corporate machine a single word: Wasted.

Were Kubler Ross here she'd likely say Anger is a step on the path.

A few issues make things look worse then they really are.

  • Most of these boards seem to have front line employees in them. I did front line for many years and yes it s---ed, so I know its easier to have a negative view on this.

  • Trolls

  • Have to take into account that people like to complain more then give praise.

  • This is a site to talk about layoffs, do you expect people that like their jobs to come here and say they like their jobs and want to stay? (not many!)

Unless people consistently lie on their employee survey (Or vz fakes the results ) then a majority of people still like working at vz.

We got here by not caring about quality employees with a good work ethic. I may not be a top performer but I do well, i come to work on time, always s do what’s asked, don’t hang out in the break room and keep myself busy during down time. The effort is certainly there to pitch what’s needed because it makes me money duh! However it’s never enough and we are still constantly yelled at for how bad we are at a numbers point. That’s how we got here!

For one Verizon keeps pushing productivity. They need to focus on quality of work and keeping customers happy. Does no good to rush and have to keep going back to fix your work.

Another thing that I don't understand:: Heard this from Fiber Construction. No one tech is allowed to work more than 4 hours ot a week period.
