Just over heard my store manager on a call about the front end getting new registers and 2 people will be at a register. Changes are coming so I wonder about claims, receiving and marketing?? Anyone heard news on any of these departments?

Yes having the runner program has not worked at our club either. Members get frustrated for several reasons. Biggest reason now we have 2 associates pestering members for plus and credit slowing down the lines. Lots of members don't like self checkouts, figuring they pay for a membership to shop and want a human to check them out. , plus they want someone to complain to about not carrying brand name merchandise because everything is going to MM, no one on the floor to help them, can't find product because there is none out for sale because on hands are messed up, etc. , etc. But on the flip side the members that choose to do self checkout can get instant savings on anything they just don't scan it and go out the door knowing the exit greaters are not really looking at the receipts. Even if they do spot a mistake they are down the road by the time they get off their stool and get someone to respond to the page on the walkie for a manager or team lead to come to the exit.
The runner thing is only pissing off members. All I hear from members anymore is how sick they are of our company. I see it going down hill more every week. I dont know who is making up these silly rules but IT AINT WORKING!
Agreed having a runner is a stupid idea. Lines are backed up longer. Members are getting irritated with the wait. Put cashiers back on registers!!!!
It’s a joke we are never staffed enough to make this work. We have 4 cashiers for morning and 4 for evening. I would love to have home office come and show us how this works. It’s a great life to sit behind a desk and dream, get your asses in the clubs and you will see it’s a joke.........
Yep a runner and a ringer. It's not going well in our store floor associates are constantly called to help the front end putting everyone else behind it's a daily struggle.
Lines are longer than ever there’s no sense to have 2 at every register and the members watching us load and unload ridiculous.

This is old school. Before convair belt check outs we used to have 2 ppl per register. The runner is called a runner because they had to run to the floor to get item numbers on stuff that would not scan. We had one girl that wore skates. A good runner would have the basket of stuff turned so the cashier could easily scan bar codes. We actually would have 25 registers open with a runner for every 2 . Ah, the good old days. Actually when I started they were called “callers” because they had to call out the bar code so the cashier could 10 key.....no scanners then. I think the powers that be at HO are totally confused & trying anything to please the stock holders. I also heard Missy is gone. I thought she was like really part of this new direction that Furner is going......nothing lasts forever.
Our club does not even have enough people it’s a f---ing joke. A few times when we’ve been staffed they take them to other departments (fresh). If you have been around for awhile it’s all about fresh and f--- the rest.
It won't stay that way. Any extra help we have goes straight to a fresh department. Extra people at the Desk? Get to wrap cupcakes or bag bread. Too many cashiers? Get to pull out of dates that should have been caught by the people that work in deli. We'll never have that many people on the front end.
Your right one big a-- cluster especially on a Saturday. Don’t worry another epic fail we’ll change it again in a year. It’s just like we fire managers every year out with the old and in with the new LMAO
What everyone else said. Runners trying to load while you're trying to scan. It's a cluster, especially when the runner is slow.

Be glad you are just getting it. It is horrible. No one is ever on the sales floor because they are called up to run all day long.
They say it’s faster but it’s not takes to much time to unload to get the cart empty. Would work better if the members would unload their own cart. When it’s real busy it’s like chaos registers to close together to even get to carts between and the two runners back to back. This is just another jack a-- who wants a job at home office it’s another epic fail.......Congratulations on another f---ed program implemented 💩
We have this already. Thing is its "required" to have two additional people per checkout to load and unload, however most of the time they just take the third person to open another checkout with only them and another cashier. Really doesn't work well with just a cashier and a runner, usually you'll fall behind and the member will have to either unload to load the cart.
Plus members hate the self checkouts, alot of them actually say they wont go through those or use san and go cause they think its taking jobs away. Plus one host for 6 self checks gets crazy on the weekend.
My club was one of the first 200 to get it. Everything else is still the same. It really didn't cut labor cost since it requires two people to have a line. 99.9% of the cashier's are PT anyway. Only one FT cashier that has been there a long time.
I got already has this. Got it in December 2017. There is 6 cash registers and 6 self checkouts. There is a cashier and a runner at each register.
i heard they are putting 6 new checkouts in our club and changing the set up of the front end so that they can have another cashier (runner ),,,the runner will empty and reload the cart while the cashier scans items ..i hear its happening in oct just another ploy to get rid of front end labor
