Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Management staff was told to reduce hours in Greenville and Upstate NY factory’s

Management was told to reduce hours and make the factory employees work less than 40 hours a week. This is a trend they are doing to slow the cash flow problem and no work. The Greenville and Upstate NY will soon be asked to go home without pay often. Due to the fact that the demand is critically low at these 2 facilities. GE facilities over seas have started this practice.

I work in building 66 I use to work in 273 sources I know in 273 say lots of areas are doing 4th quarter work and sweeping and mopping floors. On top of the harassment from management all because the management staff are living in fear for their career. I wouldn’t call GE a career anymore I can say that much. I can say is I have been laid off 3 times and I do expect another when 66 fails again. From the sources in 273 it is in the ball park of 150-175 layoffs coming.

Many areas of Schenectady #273 building have NO work. Areas have had offered its workers excused-unpaid time. This is nothing new, In the last 8-10 years, any cell leader or COE with half a brain has realized when the workers want to leave unpaid excused, when there is nothing to do, is a way to cut costs! Again, not a new idea or practice, but also again the opportunity to wind folks up with half the story!!!

We still have plenty of work in Schenectady for this year. Beginning of next year looks light, but orders are still being signed. Nobody is being asked or offered days off without pay.
