@SwC1Q3M-cnhj At this point my TL and MC are 100% in the field selling memberships. Word from the YBM was that MEM's were to have them 100% focused on sold in field memberships. Business Focuses have been posted for the next few months so as of today no word on layoffs. Yes it's possible but who's job is safe?

I have not heard about marketing for a while. If you work as MC or ML can you please share your insight or knowledge. Will there be layoffs in marketing this year?

I posted the original question. We had new people working wireless but no one had put any info on this site. Not sure which market you are all from but my club is in California. Looks like the company is trying this stuff as test marketing. The guy I talked to said he was doing the same job in North Carolina. If more people would post what is happening in their club we would be better informed.

True statement. It lays everything out for the pilot clubs.

If you search for "pilot" on the wire the first document it shows is for this pilot. Will it happen for the rest of the company? Who knows but it is happening so if you need a reality check search it up.

Nothing is “happening “ in wireless... really wish only TRUE information would be posted on this website. There is way to much unprovable info and too much drama. Lots of stuff was SUPPOSED to happen in February. Nothing happened!! JTL of which there are still 100’s of are still around.. even with the new counters being installed. PTC job was supposed to go.. pure speculation.

The current wireless associates are to help train the smart circle reps during this "pilot/trail". If the company deems this a success the current wireless associates will be placed in other departments based on their skills. Have not heard of severance or if the leads will also be given the boot. It's possible tech leads will transition back to hardlines team leads. I'm hoping the possibility of severance, I'll take my 15 years of dedication and find a company with a much better use of my talents.

The person that said it has happened in their club ... yes they would know what happened to the wireless associates. I still don’t believe this. ....

No one knows. I’m betting they are to worried (of retaliation or because they were forced to sign a confidentiality agreement) to say anything. The company keeps referring to it as a pilot still (even though it started as a pilot about a year ago in Walmart’s and a few Sams).

Since the company appears to no longer be offering severance (as they didn’t with the past few job title eliminations) my guess is they are working as regular floor partners till they hear further or were immediately offered a floor job which if they didn’t take, they would then be unemployed.

Just my opinion but it feels like the company is using dirty trick back door methods to now avoid paying severances to jobs they now want to eliminate. probably because they agreed to pay out so many so for and from what I’m hearing from associates through out the company, a lot of those from the store closings still hadn’t received their authorization letters for severance as of 2 weeks ago even though their last paycheck was 4 weeks ago. They’ve said they’ve called and told its on its way. Now when they do get, sign and return that letter they will probably still have to wait another month or 2 min to get the severance check.

Sorry that’s just wrong.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WIRELESS ASSOCIATES IN THE CLUB THAT THIS HAS SUPPOSEDLY HAPPENED? Spill it please 5

So what has happened to the wireless associates in those clubs? Laid off or moved to electronics or something?

Funny how corporate never cared for our feedback on what phones members are looking for, so now they will just pay another company to lie to members to get sales. Basically like DirecTV right now, so many members come back complaining they really had no idea what they were getting into. Guess Sam's Club doesn't want honest sales people anymore, or even care about members.

Southwest/Texas markets so I've heard. It is indeed smartcircle aka direct TV reps. Most were given about a week's worth of training in secret. Sh--ty but the poster a few down got it right, the management screwed the chances of success by allowing wireless associates to be spread thin. F---ing shame.

What regions has this rolled out to so far? I'm a Tech Lead in the northeast and haven't heard a peep yet.

So I will ask our direct tv folks tomorrow if they work for Smart Circle. We’ll see if this is really happening. I hope not... we have some good hardworking associates at our wireless kiosk. I hate to see anyone lose their job. Very sad

Smart Circle will sell Att, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular (whichever applies to the clubs they go into). Smart Circle is not DirecTv or ATT. They are just like TROC, DSI and others out there. They are just like the old SC Kiosk which was owned by Radio Shack.

Smart Circle only sells DirecTv as an indirect agent just like Sams is an indirect agent of Verizon, Att, Sprint and US Cellular.

So hopefully that clears up the confusion. We all only see Smart Circle as Dirctv because that’s all we’ve seen them sell till now but they are merely indirect agents.

Direct TV Reps have taken over Wireless/ Connections at my club as of today. No one was informed until the second it happened .

The reason cities aren’t being mentioned is because there haven’t been many yet that have rolled out. Naming the city would narrow down who’s talking online about this. We do have a social media and sharing policy (it’s on the wire) and that could be used against people so I’m sure people are worried about retaliation.

I can confirm this is going on and that it just happened to a big area earlier this week. Another big city is suppose to convert with in a month from now. As SC keeps performing well (because they aren’t Sams associates and can’t be pulled) more clubs will convert.

Honestly Sams has done this to themselves and have allowed connection centers to fail because Sams never stopped GMs from using those associates everywhere else but the kioks so members finished their shopping and got their phones else where.

Members can get the phones anywhere and find comparable deals, it’s the service they want and couldn’t get because hardly anyone was staffed or allowed to stay over there. JS

I assure you it is real, our market started training direct TV reps the ins and outs of warp and inventory practices. No one mentions cities because it's an anonymous site. I was told they are slowly rolling this out market to market. If it hasn't hit you yet doesn't mean it's not in the works.

This has not happened. Why are y’all acting like it has? I don’t believe any of this.. and no I don’t work in wireless communications. Notice how the cities are never named where this has supposedly happened? Lies.

As a dedicated tech lead, I've seen the support for technology go to sh-- after they elimanated the TSM roll, our market was always top 3 and held quarterly trainings, daily updates, open communication and actually felt like we could shape and improve. I understand most markets had terrible TSMs and even worse sales( here's looking at you east coast averaging 1activation per day). Now the market managers are underwater and have wrote off tech since very little of them understand the game. For years I advocated low cost unlocked phones to help bring in some sales with the chance to capture add ons,Offered to create 1 pagers that associates could use to compare devices easy. All to deaf ears, we all saw the low turn out during the holidays due to lackluster deals and inventory bottle necked by WARP and it's terrible implementation. The company is valuing someone else to real the rewards when all it would take is better training, better products, better systems in place.

S---s cause wireless is one area you can have someone who actually knows phones and the service and take care of members, but now they will just be replaced with greedy pyramid scheme sales people that screw members over.

Actually it’s been going on in stages since late February. Since February I think it’s upto 9 City’s now. All have been major cities. I don’t think severances will be offered in this area as I haven’t heard anything from the 9 city clubs that have already been notified.

Unfortunately this was another rumor on here that is now coming true.... You will have to train them and then Sam's will offer you a severance. Damn club.... I understand things change due to technology, but this is just getting rid of their own workers for honestly no reason except greed. Ridiculous!

It's not just any third party. It's Direct TV which is owned by AT&T. Everyone at AT&T has known about this for months.
