Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

The "I was offered a job at Oracle" troll gag...

You guys are still falling for this I see, even though the last one was written in all caps and is clearly an ESL troll. Don't you know this site is full of trolls who want nothing more than to irritate unemployed people?

They'll post this and other stuff like, "I'm a new grad and was offered a job with 5 top Tech Co's"

They know there's loads of middle age unemployed or soon to be unemployed people here who will be driven nuts by that, which is what they want. And ask yourself, why would anyone come here for career advice to decide between 5 top tech companies?

If you actually had those offers, are you going to ask a bunch of "has beens" and soon to be has beens their opinion?

Of course not! You're a young, in demand techie who thinks the 30+ crowd are dinosaurs. The last thing you'd do is ask their career advice.

People, seriously, learn to think and stop being so naive....

Agree with OP. Could be recently laid off worker or just a troll who enjoys pi$$ing people off, but either way, I always wondered why anyone would ask complete strangers for advice on where to work, especially strangers on a layoff site.

Doesn't make sense at all.

I wouldn't ask people who were laid off for career advice, and I dont have multiple offers from anyone. If I did, you can bet I'd ask a different crowd, if I asked anyone at all.

They are making fun of the stupid young people who take jobs at Oracle. That's the point.

Honestly, I think it's someone who has been laid off or dislikes Oracle who posts these things. I think it's sarcasm and it generates lots of sarcastic comments back. I think that's the intention, to get people to say how truly awful Oracle is.

And it truly is a horribly sad place to work.

Good point OP. I didn't think of it from the point of view of a kid out of college. I was still seeing myself as an experienced, seasoned professional that they might want to ask.

If I had those offers, I sure wouldn't go to a layoff site with people who couldn't even keep their own job, much less advise me on mine. I feel dumb for falling for this now.
