Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What you should expect

When they told our Audit team that their jobs were eliminated, they all worked in whatever dept had openings available. T/L worked a couple of weeks in Bakery then in Cafe. This was done for the 60 or less days until it was time for them to make a decision wether to stay or take their severance. They received their same pay as when they worked in Audit for the 60 days T/L left and others stayed in lower pay positions cause they couldn’t afford to leave.. The CM was decent about the elimination. It wasn’t his decision nor fault that Audit was no longer. Be patient cause 60 days in the majority of depts is not an insult, but rather to be looked at as helping the depts/co-workers that need help. The big money that the clerks make should show the other associates that you are an associate like they are and not better rather just had the opportunity to work (for many yrs) in a higher paying position.

I would call the home office and ask about the pay policy as it applies to jobs being eliminated. You could get that 1.60 back and back pay as well.

I lost $1.60 per hour with my new position even though my position was eliminated.

Just an FYI, the pay policy thing is true, however if you are above the max for the new job codes pay scale, you will only be paid the max regardless of wether it is a pay cut or not. Example is if you are maxed at a level c and take a level a job, you will only be paid the max for the level a job.

You need to look into the pay policy, if your job is eliminated then they can not take pay away from you, only if you volunteer to leave your department.

How many Audit Team members went to being a door greeter? How many receiving clerks are going to be being a door greeter? Too many!!!!!

Keeping the audit team in other positions was smart for club managers to keep. I guarantee you that most required audits that are suppose to be done by team leads are being done by those audit associates that were kept. Do any of you actually think that they will continue to keep office associates work part time here and there in other departments and still keep same wage? It is a matter of time when they will come back to you and say "your full time position is being eliminated to part time" take it or leave it. Good luck if they offer you a severance package.

Yep, and I would love to be a fly on the wall after I leave. They'll see how much I did. I can't wait!!! 😁

Marketing Lead and PTC have been having reports and responsibilities taken away also. They aren’t telling them anything either, but you don’t see them on here whining everyday. It is coming for all office positions and the warnings have been there for quite some time! Sam’s should not be all consuming of your life! Good grief, give it a rest, you act like you are the only ones that matter! Life will go on I promise you!

I agree with GBT. I fought for my solid raises while associates sat in offices and giggled their days away for role model raises. Not that anyone heres work is harder than anothers. It was a favoritism environment that finally went away. Hope something better comes.

My Audit was told like this, they came into work and was each called individually into the Mgr’s office and told that the Audit team was eliminated and they had (60) days to find a place to work and be reduced in pay after the 60 days and their pay would be adjusted to that position’s pay level.

The CM tried to th help them find spots

You need to read the posted comments on here it is all about what we make and how we evidently do nothing. It's sad people have to be so mean to people they don't know and lump us all together as overpaid lazy people. You can't assume we are all the same. There are good and bad associates in every position.

You guys are the ones who keep bringing up the money you make. Any long term associate makes that much. You aren’t extra special.

Let's talk about the BIG money the receiving clerks make,,,,,,,,,,HA HA HA....I too started for much less....I started at 6.75 per hour ..on my 10th anniversary I got a raise to 10 dollars per hour.....more than 10 years later I have barely doubled that....I have worked hard and did not get all the merit raises the s--- ups got over the years...I worked for a management team that thought it was OK to NEVER give a raise above the middle raise available....I worked for a management team that would give an equal raise to a very poor worker who s---ed up as what the they gave a hard worker who did not s--- up.......................These 1-5 year associates who think they are all that will be in our shoes someday and boy will they be crying........I have earned every penny of my income and will not be made to feel guilty about it !!!!

Just tell us something now! Why keep taking our responsibilities away and not tell us anything else. This is so stressful and mentally exhausting! Receiving Clerks deserve the right to know by now!

Let's talk about the BIG money the receiving clerks make. I started at $7 a hour 25 years ago. I started on a register. I have worked on the floor, business office claims, audit, bakery and receiving. I got to my BIG money by working year after year doing whatever they asked me to do. I don't understand these comments that we got paid the BIG money and didn't do anything. I have always done my job plus whatever else they asked me to do. Sounds like some people are upset over what they make per hour.

You said it. When they told the audit team. That's exactly the problem. They took the majority of our job away and have told us nothing.
