Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Java to go the way of Solaris?

They won their lawsuit:

Do they have any reason to keep the Jave people around any longer? It wouldn't be the first product they abandoned. EE has been given to Eclipse. FX is just forgotten. JavaOne keeps getting smaller every year. The 6 month releases mean they don't are about attracting new users anymore.

It feels like they already threw in the towel. Can more Java layoffs be far behind?

It's scheduled for Oct 22-25.

And we all know Oracle keeps its commitments, right!? Yeah... good luck with that... LOL...

Latest headcount is around 300 which includes about 90 in India doing sustaining and helping out some development work.

Also, there won't be JavaOne this year.

How many people does Oracle have, now, working on Java? Is it still a large group?
