Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

3/30/2018

A lot of wonderful people walking out the doors for the last time today. So very sad to see such talent go. State Farm does not value it's employees like it did in the past. The times they are a changing....best of luck to all who walk out today for the last time, you will be missed!

If? I think we have already taken the plunge down the bowl. We should have flushed the Sponsors of CDE rather than those that worked diligently to make that puffy pie in the sky vision a reality knowing even though it was flawed. Epic Fail.

Talent? HA HA HA HA HA. Most of these "leaders" couldn't lead me out of a burning building!! When projects in IT have 3 technical people and 9 non-technical people on them... smh. If the process and the family feud management style (good answer, good answer) aren't corrected, SF will be circling the bowl...

After I take voluntary severance, I want my next job to be driving the karma bus.

Worked there 23 years. Saw reorg in 1998 and then again about 2007 ish. When the VP retired a little too early, then the region managers started retiring a little too early I knew it was time to get out.

Even voluntary severance is not really going out on your own terms. Certainly this was not my original timetable. Thought it would be a mistake to pass this up. After seeing what had transpired in the months following selecting voluntary severance, I’m glad I didn’t gamble, and go down the involuntary path. And most of those people on that involuntary path now regret not taking the voluntary option.

I will miss a lot of the folks that left... They were good people and truly cared about their people and the work they did!! I don’t blame them for taking this once in a lifetime opportunity!!! Id say they are the lucky ones, as the rest of will not be so lucky to choose when we depart and on what terms!! Voluntary severance is a sweet perk if you are offered..: Gives you a lot of flexibility to start fresh!!

I don’t know what all of you saw but, I witnessed many people thankful for a decades long career, a well paying job with benefits and a handsome severance..... not doom and gloom at all.

State Farm was a disappointment in so many ways. These last few months s---ed the life out of us. I hope the people that pushed some of us out the door find themselves in a similar situation. You know karma? Yep she is a b——!

My heart goes out to those who are leaving. The impact is great to your families and lives. It's hard to not be angry or depressed, but remember to grieve or process how you feel. You'll get through it.

Echoing what others here have said. I'm not directly connected to SF, but genuinely feel bad for those who are suffering. I hope that you're able to look at this as an opportunity and move forward. BN as a community has to do a better job of diversification when in comes to our employers. Hopefully those in power will stop celebrating the opening of new service type businesses and work to attract employers that can benefit from the ready made skilled workforce that is available. Condolences to all who are going through this.

I know that this is hard for some of you, but there is life after State Farm. The hardest part for me was leaving the people I had been close to for so many years. You will go through a process of de-stressing which is an amazing journey in itself. We have all been under so much stress that it seems normal and then when it is gone it feels like a burden has been lifted. Take some time for yourself, enjoy time with your family and then decide what you want to be when you grow up. Good luck, our thoughts are with you.

Please know that there are people in BN who are saddened by what is happening to many fine people. We are thinking about you and hoping for the best for all of you.

As an outsider, but a resident of Bloomington-Normal, this is heartbreaking. Please know that the vast majority of people are devastated by what is going on. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. You will find life and success beyond State Farm, which appears to have chosen to be just another insurance company.

Thanks for the sentiment.

Today is technically my last day, but in point of fact it was yesterday. It was so strange looking around the office, knowing I'll never step foot there again. Cleaning out my desk was surreal, and handing over my keys and my badge felt otherworldly.

Out in the parking lot, I turned and took one last look at the building. Then it was over.

Time to move on.
