Once the TW acquisition is complete layoffs are back on. The retraining announcement serves no purpose than to trick public and regulators that At&t is nice.

couldn't agree with you more, mr. pitcher. the irony is at&t could be a great company if they wouldn't be run by such a psychotic con artist who thinks he can make a profit by randomly cutting people for various reasons throughout the year. they absolutely do not seem to care if anything gets done correctly, but are hell bent on creating friction between various groups - older vs younger, union vs non union, perm vs contract, upper management vs. lower management, etc.
No matter how hard you work, or how much quality work you produce, or how much your team values you, age trumps all at big T, Your age cancels out ALL your achievements, and it is disgraceful. T's ageist policies are vile

agreed with 1xok - not only is the training ignored for a new position within T but it is useless elsewhere. it is very basic and meant to waste your time and jump through hoops for all those idiots in upper "leadership." ( quotes intended ) there might be some nano degrees that are worthwhile to show your new employer you are keeping up, but how do these even help without any current experience using any new skills ? i am just overwhelmed by the "transparency" of what i have seen at this company lately.
What makes you thing the deal will go through? The odds are 50 50 it'll happen and if you've followed testimony the last few days those against the merge offer surprisingly good arguments. Perception is everything and with consumers negative views of mega-monopolies such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, etc. all bets are off. We'll see.

The T is not a Nice Company! Their little Service Promise books to show the customers they care is a PR sham! Trying too fool unknowing people to get the TW deal to pass....then Business as usual!
Cut good loyal employees replace with cheap labor with little benefits, take advantage and abuse the customers!
Retraining is nonsense - badges mean nothing, if they want to retrain, how about moving to new positions and training there, Randy is a slippery salesman, his parachute is opening now. The Retraining classes are so low level they don't make. A difference. You don't see any industry certification programs from Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft, oracle or any recognized certification, all smoke and mirrors
If you want to get qualified your going to need to do it on your own
