Halliburton has confirmed they are moving jobs in their financial and accounting department away from Duncan but will still keep some jobs in Duncan this year.
Emily Mir, Halliburton director of external affairs, said even though jobs are moving away from Duncan, the company is still in the early stages of working through a plan.
“At this time, we are working through the implementation of the new model and will discuss transition options with employees as they become available,” Mir said. “Halliburton is reorganizing its financial and accounting structure in an effort to improve the delivery and cost effectiveness of its internal accounting services.”
While Mir said the company is looking to implement the model around the third quarter of 2018, Duncan still holds a place in Halliburton’s plans.
“A substantial number of [financial and accounting] employees will remain in Duncan,” Mir said. “The city remains an important regional location for Halliburton — as it has for almost 100 years.”
Halliburton has had a history of layoffs, with the last major employment shift coming in late 2016 or early 2017. Mir said at this time, no layoffs are scheduled to occur.
Rumors were circulating that jobs would move to India, but Mir said location of the jobs that are moving haven’t been discussed and will be decided later.
