Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

More layoffs

Do we know anything new about the mentioned March layoffs? Several posts referenced them a few weeks ago and then all mention disapeared.

Should I take that as good news that it was just a rumor and nothing more? Or am I missing something here?

Frankly, even if March layoffs were only a rumor, plenty of others to chose from, from I can see, so it would be small comfort.

Divisions like CCBU are a blot on the organizations, whose VP is an utter failure.

Still people who are not VP or director are getting pink slips. Sad state of affair.

I'm a veteran of Cisco and have seen many BU have taken the burnt. I was working in CCBU in CVP product at Boxborough earlier. Later on this came to India and Boxborough was closed and some of us moved to other locations.

I hear that CVP is loosing revenue like anything as Indians have not done a good job. They had made some left over guy as vanilla product manager who do not have any experience. Also I heard a lot of service guys from Wipro were taken on-board without any interview and are made architects there. Even the revenue generated in India, where all are locals, is pathetic for this product. Such is a case of Cisco flagship products of Collaboration to show the balance sheet positive.

I've been hearing more and MORE of handover to India for programming and product development. Unfortunately most of it not going so well....should be 100% Indian and 100% recurring (on declining) revenue within a few years.

Many layoffs are happening. Some how senior people and their spoons are safe in Boxborough by playing the Fibonacci series through the pre-Y2K technology based contact center.

The secure policy network team which was there in US has been re-hired in India center and new Director and Managers are there. Huge hiring is going on in India with global salary. Even people from Amazon have been hired here.

Silent layoffs are happening every month and Cisco is not legally mandated to announce it in the media. Just because your unit didn't get impacted, it doesn't mean it didn't happen else where.

Yes. I'm in India and I got 28% increase in salary. My friends also got on average 15% increase. We have over 10+ year in Cisco switching and now the salary is almost at par on our US counterparts. The layoff is a hoax. Infact in India we require ~1000 employees more.
